Had the same thing happen to me on the way back from a Border Run. The guy that did it was someone I'd been riding with on and off for 30 years !

Saw him a few days after we got back, tore strips off him, didn't speak to him for nearly two years.
Mrs Beak No. 2 told me to get over it, somethng about not throwing away a friendship of that long.

Ride occassionally with him now, but not that often. Don't rely on him at all.

Like other posters mentioned, he was old enough to have known better but I don't think he really understood.

I reckon he was more upset I was pissed off , but didn't really understand the magnitude of his indescretion.

If someone doesn't get the "buddy" thing by the time they are 25, they are probably never going to get it ... So don't ride with them, it's not worth the angst and worry.

I'm just glad that my friends do come and look for me when I disappear into a bush. I've not hurt my self doing this .... yet. And the day I do hurt myself I like the idea that someone would be looking for me, and I do the same for them.

Thats fucked, and something you just don't do.

You cannot rely on someone who pulls that shit!!

I would not ride with the prick again.

Had similar happen on a ride years ago. The guy let us know he needed a rest and would head to a point we would pass later and wait for us.

We got there about 1 hour later and he wasnt there. We went looking for him but it turned out he just up and went home.

:lol3 used to ride with a guy like who did that. had a ride organised, kitted up, rode over to his place and hung around for an hour then just went home again figuring something was seriously wrong (before mobile phones era).

turns out he just decided to do something else but couldnt be bothered letting me know. never rode with him again.

already had my doubts about him as a few rides previously my bike broke down and he said he was riding up to a look out about one km away to enjoy the view while i fixed it.
"but what if you have a tool i don't have?"
"just walk up and grab it off me". :huh

sounds like this has happened a lot

    me too

    I know its boring

but when I ride with new people

I explain the buddy system/wait at each turn etc.

my wife always has a go at me for lecturing.

    still it sometimes works

    and sometimes I fuckup too

as on my last ride/ don't want to talk about it

Happened to me once ... been riding with this guy for about 2 years, we were out riding at kenilworth near the bell bird cafe, on the wiggles and he overtook this little bike ... i followed for a few bends and the guy fell off going to fast on a yam 535. spent 20 mins sorting him out .. not hurt and my mate never came back. ...... went round his house on the way home and spat the dummie out, dont think he will do it again. I hope :eek1

Same goes for those who refuse to obey ride rules and cornerman duties, had one who didn't pay any attention to the route, then just rode off in the wrong direction till I pretty much ran over him to make the asshat stop & go back. He thought it wasn't a big deal!!

Change of route is cool, so long as everyone is aware of it...

Maybe this is the reason I see so many solo riders on my solo rides. :norton

Every one of the F**kers pissed off for home leaving their mate alone in the bush wondering where the hell they had disappeared to. :huh
