[hijack] What is it with Pacific Northwesterners and British bits?

We should all meet somewhere next spring--maybe back side of Mt St Helens. I haven't seen another F800GS on the road yet in Seattle! I'd love to compare notes. [/hijack off]

    Rob in Seattle

PS I'll be at the Cycle Show on Saturday I expect.

[hijack again] Rob - I'm still mending from a high-speed encounter with a semi, and won't be able to make Seattle. Please take lots of good pics of the TT demo bike. Thanks. [/hijack off]

Here are a few piss poor pics I took tonight during a ride in Post Canyon. I only had an iPhone for pics, sorry about the quality. Adv Spec crash bars and skid plate. Hand guards by Barkbusters.

I'm very satisfied with the build quality and ease of installation.

Mounted the Adventure Spec crash bars with no difficulties whatsoever. Everything--bars, spacers, s.s. bolts-- seems to be of the highest quality and design. The fit was perfect and the bars have a factory look. Anyone who orders these bars I think will be very happy they did. I give them a 10. Great job Adventure Spec!

Anybody other than johngil install the Holan bars? I like the looks and protection they seem to have, but all the buzz is about everything but. Any pictures johngil?

Thanks for the photos rideoregon. Very nice! I like the yellow reflective tape on your BMW bags. Very slick-matches the yellow on your "short bus".

Where did you get the yellow tape???

    Thanks

    Motorman,
I got the tape at a local supply store. It's nothing fancy just standard refective tape. I wanted scotchgard tape but this is what I ended up with. The reflectors on the bags are BMW issue, same as those around the license plate. They're like 6 bucks each which is ridiculous but I wanted matching reflectors. I ride at night hence whatever I can do, within reason, to be seen...

I can't post a picture w/ the temporary restrictions on this website.
The link I provided has good photos I think.
These bars are very narrow, yet offering some good protection up high.

I'll try to get the photos up soon.

johngil, by narrow do you mean overall width or the diameter of the tubing? Thanks.

Put mine on today SW-Motech, went on easy, thanks to an extra set of hands from Steve. Me likes. Also put on the Laminar Lip today and ran it up to a buck at 45 degrees - it works too. :clap

I put mine on today too, and it was handy to have extra hands. I had to file out one of the bolt holes on the crossbrace 1mm or so to get them to fit. They tuck in nicely and look great. Don't even see them while sitting on the bike. I have the BMW skid pan and they don't interfere with each other. The bars and hardware weighed about 10 pounds before installation. Probably weigh the same now :)

I have a special "home made" bash plate that is currently with my bestest friend being painted. He was helping me and the school solution for the cross brace was to put some muscle into it and spring it a little.

Mine went on this weekend also.

The fit was really easy except for the 110X10 mm bolt that came to me with a bend in it. My trip to the hardware store doubled my installation time :lol3

Seems the SW-Motech bars are on backorder and won't ship until Jan. 12th or so... :bluduh
