And that reminds me: if you go to a gel battery and you own a battery charger/ maintainer, you may have to replace it with one compatible with a gel battery.

The BS model is about 1.5" taller than the S model. It won't fit in the ADV battery box.

does this fit correctly in the stock box ?

It's the same dimensions as the stocker. The posts just bolt on, so you leave 'em off. It kicks the stock Yuasa's butt...

Well..not quite, CCA of the Yuasa 14S is 230, while Braille is 210.

I did the following test:
Connected a capacitor 1000 microF to the two bare cables, connected to the battery poles. Then disconnected the battery, while keeping the revs around 2,5ks. The motor continued to run. When the revs droped lower than 2ks, the motor died. Seems the alternator can produce sufficient power only when running over 2-2,5 ks, which stabilized from the capacitor can operate all 950Adv electric comsumption. Anybody else nows the revs' threshold when the battery is charging or discharging?

Maybe if you crank it for 30 seconds (I don't recommend it...). Otherwise, the battery is designed to start 4 cylinder race cars. I've had both, and there's no comparison, the Braille rocks.

Regular tender works fine. The Carbon fiber is just a gimmic.

This Braille looks good but very expensive to ship to Europe, Spain (about 100 USD).
Can anybody recommend a battery than Yuasa which I can buy in Europe?

I put the battery in after i did the pushing. The oddeesy is doing fine I left the light on for 15minutes the other day at home as a test and it still fired right up.

I decided to get a Braille B106 on the way to replace the 04 original unit. With the auto clutch going in and the original not performing 100% I don't plan on making the mistake of having a battery that will not start the engine. granted, not cheap ($151 shipped), it should be good for the life of the bike.

It sure seems short when you are the one buying the batterie$.

In equipment that sits a lot of the time like farm trucks, earthmoving machinery and recreational vehicles, average battery life is about 18 months. In a rig that is used frequently but has fairly heavy battery use while in operation, such as my Yukon with electric everything, 24 to 30 months seems average.

Guys who keep float chargers on their bikes All The Time report 60 month battery life as common.

I am a convert. I bought float chargers for everything I have. I am even going to install one on my Yukon as it sits when it is not raining.

I don't know if you can get 60 months out of a battery in a 950/990 even if there is a float charger on it all the time, but I bet it lasts a lot longer than 24 months. I am going to give it a try and will report back to this thread in 60 months

So it fits into the 950 battery compartment, doesn't need the leads reversed (like the Odyssey), has more output and doesn't need a special gel battery tender. Sounds like the holy-grail of batteries?

Any disadvantages? Is it spec'd for inverted mounting like the Yuasa?

Mount in any position. Not suitable for cold weather or long periods of storage - whatever that means.

If you buy a battery that needs commissioning the ONE thing you need to do correctly before charging it up is to fill it with acid and let it sit for an hour or overnight with occasional taps to the side of the battery to dislodge any bubbles from the plates.

Do this and the battery will have a longer more reliable working life.

I just verified that the Braille B106 is a direct replacement for the stocker in a ADV. They are not cheap (~$150 shipped), however they will deliver more current for short bursts than the stock Yuasa. This little 6.6 pound battery will dump ~400 amps for ~30 seconds at ~32 deg F.

Hmmmm....spendy battery but I appreciate the write up. On order, awaiting delivery. Stocker wont hold a charge for long any more (a week max), don't want to take a chance of being stranded. For those interested, stock batt was perfect for almost 2.5 years with occasional use but started having issues late fall, last year. Hope this one lasts longer....

My stock battery is not holding a charge more than 2 weeks and it is only 18 months old. There must be something wrong with it. I will take it to the dealer tomorrow and ask them to change it to replace it within the warranty.

Is it possible to buy this Braille battery in Europe?
