A cold busy week after getting back, so I planned the best weather day, Thursday, for trail riding with another inmate.

This shot is taken at 4,500' elevation, the peak in the back is 8,460'.







The valley in the foreground, saddle in the center left, and peak/lookout center, all share the same name.




After throwing the loaded DR around for a few days, it was a joy two smoke again.:jose​

Thanks for the great reports. I'm running somewhat of the same setup. 200EXC for the gnarly singletrack and a DRZ400 for the longer dualsport type adventures. Haven't done a bike only overnight yet, just longer day trips on the DRZ. How do you like that Giant Loop bag on your KTM? I was thinking about using one on my DRZ, as the E-model doesn't have a substantial subframe to mount a rack to.

Awesome! Can't wait to see more. Have you ever checked out the queen valley loop? There is some really nice riding back there.

The Mojave GL I use primarily for extra fuel capacity, Ramz showed me the Touratech 2L fuel containers that fit perfect and are bomb proof.On the newer version the tool bag is removable. I really like the ability to mount GL products on all the bikes I own, here it is on my 400.








The Coyote GL Is used for lite multiple day rides, it works well on the 400.






I did not like the way the Coyote GL fit on the 650 with the rack on. The Drtbagz set up had plenty of room, so I used the Mojave for fuel.

I have climbed and jeeped in the Queen crk, Oak flat and Devils canyon area. But that was almost twenty years ago.

Queen valley is east of gold canyon no where near queen creek, it's really nice in the spring. Lots of water and wildflowers.

Cool report - grew up in Tucson and visited Araviapa Canyon many times with my parents. We've back packed the length of it from both directions. An oasis-like place in the summer.

I'm guessing the very first photo with the snow was in Colorado... Are there parts that you can ride all year? How cold was it out in the desert? I'd love to ride Arizona some day, just not in the summer!

With the imminent 100% chance of precipe for Sat. I took advantage of the cloud cover Fri. and rolled downstream for the afternoon.






I dropped a tooth on the front sprocket, this route would let me test it under most of the terrain type I intend to use this bike for.

I rode up the canyon a few miles and see another farther off in the distance, it, not so healthy, but look at the life cycle stages in this picture.

As soon as I intersect with the ridge route, I am treated to a great view of the canyon below this route.











As I exit the Mesa and enter the Foothills the texture of the tread changes also.







Ride shoot, ride shoot, I always forget how scenic this route is.











I have camped at this site many times over the years.

Back on route I am almost to the high elevation point (4,631') of this ride.

















A hearty fellows at this elevation, and the only ones around.

I recently purchased a 03 DR650 and love it. Most of my riding is in CA desert. Have done a few mods. for desert riding. I love the bike. Planning a Cont. Divide trip. Cant wait. I enjoyed your thread. Thanks
