Looks like a good gathering. What seems to be the brand / bike of choice over there?

I have to say it but KLR seems to be the brand & the DR650. Couple had 640A.s and there was a sweet old DR750. Drz400, XR400 BMW800 & two BMW 650s one Dakar 650. Good variety of bikes.

The last five days or so have been spent riding with the blokes from BCdualsport and advrider up in the very north of Vancouver Island.

    and this
    [IMG]
Wyatt (Yatman) showed me a little bit more of the island on the way home.
If the resolution of the pictures are too big let me know. Would hate anyone to be scrolling like a barstard trying to see the good views.
Two great blokes here with a lot of local knowledge. Dave on the right was kind enough to extend me an invitation to their annual Vancouver Island ride. What a ride it was. I was very fortunate to get to see a lot of places around the northern part of the island that not even the locals know is there.

Sure will be one of the group rides I will remember for years to come.
I am so grateful to have met a heap of guys from all over Canada on this ride that treated me so well and kept up the ozzy tradition of taking the piss out of me any any opportunity that arose. So thanks guys.... a real big thankyou.
I posted this one on my facebook album and tagged Philth in it as he is a good old ozzy milkman.

There is so much logging going on in Canada that makes Aussie logging look small in comparison.
Lots of logs that are left to float on the rivers.
    And plenty of these suckers.
Heres a comparison to my 950SE.
Coming into Vancouver I came accross a few of these shops. Had a little laugh in the helmet and just couldnt resist.

I have finally figured out what is wrong with the pommies. (Englishman).
First camp site night was spent trying to dry out everything as it was bloody freezing cold and wet. Despite the weather conditions everyone was having a great time.
    and just for Derek.
Fat is and understatement mate, I am having a friggin ball. Should have done something like this years ago.
Ended up doing over 450kms of this type of riding.

I would highly recommend exploring around Woss, Port Mcneill, Campbell River, Bonanza Lake and Port Alice. All absolutely great places to visit.
Bit of a stop where I had to remove my fuel tank to try and plug the leak that the shitty old oring had started. I seems that ethonol fuel here might have made it leak a bit. I tried a new to me product called seal all. I must admit it did a pretty good job even with fuel leaking out all over where I smeared it under pressure. I still managed to block the leak enough for me to get back to camp and drain the tank.

Plus it was quite funny with about 17 Canadians all hanging around watching me do it and offering advice on how to do it. Great bunch of blokes though .. those Canadians are.

Did I say awesome riding ? Just in case I forgot.. its awesome riding.

Bob (Diverdown) gave me some YUKON rum. phew.. that put a bit of lead in my pencil and fibre in my stool. Pitty I couldnt find something to scribble on.
Good drop though in the cold I am assured.
The crappy view from my tent.. NOT.

These are pictures of the first Coal Mine on Vancouver Island. Quite the history indeed.
The big Buckets used to haul the coal.

This photo gives you and idea how much the forest has overtaken the area since the early 1900s.

The craftsmanship on the brick work was pretty damn impressive.
Yours Truly with the ruins in the background.
Now here is a steam engine. It would have been a mean feat to get this up the shoreline a few hundred meters and get it going.
Had a bit of history too.

Young Dave (Redhed) my next door neighbour who I can't thank enough for lending me the Sealall that he had been carrying around in his tool kit across south america hoping to use it. ... Good on ya mate. Will be good to see ya get to Australia, for some of this. :1drink:1drink

Brent, Glad your enjoying it mate.

Hey mate, glad you haven't lost interest yet. Retire soon mate, Just do it.

Rough plan is east a bit and then back down to Crater Lake then back to LA for a run over to Colarado with DSM8. Spend a bit of time being escorted around the high peaks of Colarado, then back north again.

The saddleman seat is not bad, much better than the stock seat. Glad you like it.

Heres a picture with me and some Good Canadian Hospitality. I can't thank Chris enough for putting me up at his place and Marlene and Wyatt for feeding me with their warm welcome & food.

Depending on where you decide to come south back through Washington, try to see Grand Coulee Dam and then the Oregon backcountry discovery route. Would be perfect to ride that on your SE.

Very interesting to see something that I consider commonplace through anothers eyes.

Well I am definately independent .

Here I am having a nice cuppa starring at a 6205 bearing with no dust cover with it. The bearing cage is threatening to go AWOL the minute 100 HP demands anything of it.

As they say shit happens but this time around I'm pissed at Mr Jap and his dodgy new bearings that can't handle a bit of Canada's finest dust and mud & rain.

This is where I will spend the night of 4th of July listening to what sounds like world war 3 in osoyoos
    [IMG]
Seems to be a place full of apple crates.
So will wander over to the engineering place in the morning and see if he can get me a new bearing.
Failing that its 18 miles to Tonasket or further on to Omak.

Oh and heres some pussy just "DustyRhodes"

Chris cat, quite liked the cat even his biting habits
