I'm looking at a 2009 SE R Erzberg Edition. 2500 miles, very good condition. Asking price is $11,500. That's over book by a few grand. Does anybody think it's worth it?

No, from a practical standpoint. But since it's one of the worlds most limited yet desirable resources, it will bring a premium, likely.

For the grin factor... priceless! What I'd actually pay... $9K absolute tops, especially if not sorted/cared for (500 mi/yr is not exactly "caring" for it).

Don't let numbers keep you from something you really want, if it is on a whim, then probably not..

It all depends on how bad you want one.

I recently bought one. I SOOO didn't need one. I already have a 990 and an exc.

Turns out if I could only keep one bike, it would be the SE

Paid $9000, mint condition, and had 2500 miles.

Guess what, knowing what I know now, I woulda paid more. MUCH MORE.

And if it's local to you, factor that into the price.

These things aren't usually next door.

That's what I thought. It's overpriced but I want it. I've always said it's better to over pay for something you want rather than under pay for something you don't. Thanks for the opinions guys, think I'll make him an offer!

I have a 09 Erzberg and if I waded it up or it it got ripped off I would pay that to get another, after knowing what there like.

it all depends upon what mods it has and what condition and mods you want. I paid $10500 for mine, and it had about 8-9k miles on it. But it had all of the good stuff that I wanted on it, was not too far from me (only two states away!) and at the time there were very few SE's for sale.

At the time my main requirements/wants were:
    bigger tank (safari)
akro or wings exhaust (or at least something not nuclear like the stockers)
    scotts steering damper
    luggage plate on tail
ideally suspension modified but that's debatable depending upon owner/buyer weight/riding style
protection (skid plate, side stand fix)
    seat (renazco)

anything more than that was just icing on the cake. luckily mine had all of that stuff on it just like I would have spent a few thousand dollars adding, so it was worth a bit of a premium over some other not so nicely equipped models.

IMHO $11500 doesn't seem out of line at all! if you buy an SE you won't be disappointed. :)

I recently sold mine and also my friend sold his, both bikes were around 3K in miles and both bike sold for $11,000+. Of course both bikes were in great condition.

Like someone said. If you don't but it soon, someone else will and then you won't be able to find another one unless you are willing to wait.

Waiting for a call back, definitely going to buy it if he will sell it to me. Might be gone already.

Book price means nothing, something is worth whatever someone is willing to pay. What would it cost new now...2500 miles is partially run in....

Made for two years....same goes for the HP2E.

I've got an SE with approx 30K on the odometer, all the extra parts you could ask for, and I will NEVER sell it.
I run it a few miles every two weeks and take one or two big trips a year on it and I LOVE IT!

And they're usually high mileage at that. The cheapest was $12,000aud and it was well used and unloved.

That pretty much sums it up. When I first saw one, I thought this is an iconic motorcycle that wont stay in production. I bought a brand new one and have no plans to sell it. It excites me and scares me all at the same time.
