I'm looking a for an inexpensive luggage rack to bolt to my factory GS rack so I can mount a givi case. I really like the altrider plate but it is too expensive. I have done lots of googling and have not found anything else to fit the bill. I have seen the givi plates and they are just ugly. Does anyone else make a plate like the altrider plate that is more affordable?

Kip I saw that one but thought it needed another plate as an adapter. The extra hardware on top of the plate threw me off.

I was hoping someone on the board was making one at a reasonable price.

    Thanks Kip.

I put the stainless GSA rack on my GS, along with the Givi E250 universal mounting plate, but the GSA rack is pretty hard to find used and something over $300 new (IIRC)

I just bolted my cheap JC Whitney plate to the stock rack:

So long as you don't carry anything more than 10-15 pounds in it, especially off road, it will be fine!

Of just the plate on the BMW stock rack; no givi box.

I went on the jc Whitney website and could not find the plate only the trunk. Can you order just the plate? I can't complain about 47 bucks for everything but I just don't need the trunk.

    Thanks for posting pictures Jim.

JC Whitney doesn't sell just the plate. Givi does, but it will run close to the same price of $47.

I use the plate from GSessories which replaces the rear seat. I mounted my existing givi plate from the previous bike to the GSessoreis plate after drilling and tapping an additional 2 holes. This keeps the Givi 46L bag much lower and more forward for better weight distribution. If you dont normally carry a passenger, this is a great option, and you can remove the plate and replace the rear seat in seconds.
