Marktplaats.nl is one of them, but the Dutch E-bay too. Please note... 2nd hand bikes (and cars) are often cheaper to buy in f.e. Germany or Belgium. The plus of Germany... they have an MOT (APK) for motorcycles, the TUV. A good German site with many private sellers is www.mobile.de I bought a Honda Transalp once in Germany, and imported it back to NL. You only have to bring it to an regional RDW (National Road & Traffic department) to get a Dutch licence and approval. Which takes money, but even than you could be cheaper off. If you are planning to take the bike to Asia (I guess you will be riding?) I would suggest a 2cylinder bike in stead of the single Teneré. Honda 600/650/700 Transalp, or BMWF800GS would be my choice. Light, good comfort and economics, reliable and trusty.

Hi guys, I am an expat as well living in Amsterdam. I recently bought an XR650R, slowly tidying it up and waiting for the riding season to finally enjoy it! Any suggestions on rides, on/off road routes, events, links and anything relevant is highly appreciated. Cheers Sergios
Thanx, it looks cool!! I live in Amsterdam, but suggestions further than that is fine as well. Cheers S.
I am affraid that offroad options in Suburbia (Randstad Amsterdam/The Hague/Haarlem etc) will be limited, but I leave it to the locals to give a final top tip...
Hi guys and a merry christmas. I am fairly new to NL having come from Scotland. As yet I have not ridden with any of you but I hope that changes soon. For most of you I guess you have been at home with your loved ones (bike) over the festive period, but for me I have been away in the big blue sea. So when I get home in January I will be itching to get out on my bike and wondered if anybody would like to join me. I propose riding a trail I have in the Brabant area, (or an other if someone has a suggestion) which is mainly flat easy tracks with the odd wooded section.. I will ride Wednesday 8th - Thursday 9th January and if some of you were up for it we could take an overnight in a local hotel to enjoy some good food and some even better beer. In the mean time, enjoy the new year. Ewan. Ewan.
Gelukkig Nieuwjaar en groetjes vanuit Kiev, Oekraїne! De Consulaire afdeling van de Koninklijke Nederlandse Ambassade is altijd tot Uw dienst.
... Happy newyear to all Dutchies & Friends over there. First day of the year 2014, beautiful weather. The Honda XL1000V Varadero still lies on the Optimate IV, but the good old 28yrs young XLV750RF lacks every form of modern technology and just does what it was meant to do... Turn the ignition, push the starter and RUN, with no additional help from outside; even if she was hibernating for the last 2 months... ;D Had a wonderful 75km ride today on the Old Lady. I simply LOVE these rigged old Honda's!
Hi Ewan, would love to but unfortunately cannot make it this time. Let us know next time you are going for a ride. Cheers Sergio
Signing in here. I'm just across the border from Sittard. Planning a bunch of trips for Spring/Summer if anyone is interested in Turkey, Scotland or Spain, let me know. Also available for drinking and wrenching.
Are there more folks here planning to go to the Elefanten treffen? I live in Assen, maybe we can hitch-up.. i plan to go on my jawa, so limited top speed. ..
April 26 was mentioned. As I'll be watching the WSB at Assen on sunday, That would still be a fine date for me. And lots of campsites in Drente. Edit: 2 weeks later and no reactions so I may plan something different that weekend. Anyone a later time in mind?
Hi Wimj. Sorry for the late reply on this. I will be coming to Assen too but not until the Sunday morning as apparently I should be celebrating some special day on the Saturday. Something to do with a king I think. Regarding a meeting I am still very interested to either meet in NL or possible ride together slightly further for some trail riding. Northern France for example.
