I have a '98 Adventure (Low-Pipe model) that doesn't get ridden much, and I have put it up for sale. If you or someone you know are interested, you can see the bike here:'98 KTM Adventure

Awhile ago somebody posted a link to an online source for adhesive backed cork that was made for motorcycle skid plates - said to keep the mud from accumulating (and deaden the sound). Anyone? :ear

    Meat,

Can't help you with the link, but I followed Creeper's lead (I think), and bought some closed cell foam (3/8" but I wanted a little thicker). It was like $2.00 for a linear foot, which is a lot of material for the $. I cut it into a few different strips to fit on the plate, and used 3M Spray Adhesive to mount it.

Can't say I notice a huge difference noise/vibration wise, but what the hell. Maybe I'll put some more on next time I pull the plate.

You can get the closed cell foam at fabric stores, at least around here.

You want the closed cell foam, because it won't absorb and hold water like a sponge the way regular foam will.

How about foam in the can?? Cover what you don't want foamed as you spray.

James, I thought about that idea, but I was worried that it might inadvertently prevent the engine from shedding heat. IMO, the LC4 (at least mine) runs a bit hot as it is.

I was actually thinking the opposite, that the closed cell would retain heat.
Screw it! I think I'll stick to a screwdriver and a water hose for cleaning.
