Didn't get a picture though. Went to Big Hill Springs provincial park and screwed around on the side roads there and back. The gloves on half heat were warm enough, got hotter the faster I rode. Now I know bundled up with heated stiuff at just above zero is okay for riding. Toes were starting to get cold by the time I got home. Felt good to get out again.
Red Wing hunting boots with 900 or 1200 thin-sulate in them. Warm feet makes a happy biker !!! 1800 is to much, so don't got them that thick. From Jeathrow Bowdean in Western Canada.

Thanks, I will check those out. I had motocross boots on with thin socks. Would be good to look into some other riding footwear for pavement riding.
I've seen some nasty wounds from riding without proper boots. I agree with above. Street or dirt, you should have proper protection. Feet, hands (i'm guilty of motox gloves) and obviously head. I think those are the big three, but AYGATT, or whatever it is. I have friends that are happy they can walk. They admit it wouldn't have been an issue if proper gear was worn.
Warmth was my issue and the cheapest and safest way to address that would be to check out the helly hanson winter socks. I suspect it would be difficult to find a much warmer boot that a motocross boot with a good winter sock underneath. If desparate I can use the foot warmers I got from canadian tire. I was considering getting some riding footwear that would be appropriate for walking at my destination, feel like a knob walking around a store in giant boots.
I am almost too old to care but not quite there yet...Maybe if I can hold off a few years. Are you sure you aren't trying to dress like a space ranger/stormtrooper to try for funny looks?
You can get by it. I used to look like an idiot wearing my one piece leathers when on my sport bike. The best part? Male camel toe. Got to love a properly fitting suit....
Check out heated socks or heated insoles. They feel funny walking but work great to keep your feet warm and you can still wear real boots. Send from my Droid using Tapatalk
Went with XSOCAL and his KTM950 up hwy 40 around waiprous. Got a bit past the quad adventure rental place then had to turn around since the road got slippery. Was very windy on the way out. On the way back at highway speed sometimes I didn't feel any wind. It was strange, the wind must have been about 95 km/hr for that to happen. Wore warm socks under the motocross boots and had warm feet the whole way. Was nice to get out. MALE CAMEL TOE/MOOSE KNUCKLE. I guess if guys can live with that I can live with wearing motocross boots in the mall.
It makes it a lot easier thinking others were/are in a worse scenario. Did they get much snow out there? I was out on the weekend (Sat) and the road was mostly good as far as Wiaparous valley (where I turned off)
There wasn't fluffy new looking snow, it was packed down quite well. The packed snow/ice did not cover the entire road where we turned around. It just was getting worse the further we went until we decided to turn around. If you were willing to cross intermittent packed snow and dirt, you would have made it a lot further.

Hi all, I just found this thread. Is anybody heading out this Saturday. I'd sure like to start getting out on more than solo runs if possible. I'm in SW Calgary but can ride north wo issue, provided the weather delivers of course. Thanks GG
