KTM 950 SE lighting Solution

After about an hour of searching the web and this site I've come to the OC to ask about other Solutions for lighting my SE.


I know Rigid lights are the lights to have along with the Baja design lights and blackdog has some trick lights to mount them to.

What are other makes of lights that have helped compliment the weak headlights on the SE? What Mounting solutions have people done??

I can confirm that the Rigid/BlackDog setup is pretty solid. PO installed it prior to me buying this bike but I'd definitely recommend it - they are bright lights and the fork mount from BDCW is stout.

Damn that look terrible! Want to sell that set up?

Yeah they are nice but spendy! I may just have to make the investment.

How do those secure? to the bottom triple?

Same again, I have to say I am impressed beyond my own belief .....one dark Guatemalan night these performed so outstanding well and better than anything I have had before.

As per twwhitey the mounting etc is fantastic.

Add a euro switch to operate them and have the ability to turn them off and on.

Interesting - not to thread highjack but I DO have the Euro switch but it's currently not hooked up to anything but I've been planning to do so. (Currently the Rigids are triggered by a simple switch on the handlebar.) Do you by any chance have the fancy controller that allows you multiple stages of brightness? or just set the lights on via either of the 2 settings in the euro switch? I've been thinking of getting this thing and using the euro switch to trigger a low then a high setting on the Rigids. From what I understand that euro switch is a bit funky in design (its not 2 distinct switches, it's more like 1 switch with 2 progressive settings or something like that).

Hard to argue with that quality. Putting in a order on those brackets today. May have to put some toys on the chopping block to buy the lights. Without the misses finding out.

We don't have a fancy smancy controller, either on or off.

With the euro switch you/we can turn the lighting off completely, I do this in town in traffic as the fans spin a lot faster with full power to them.

Our first stage is just the standard lighting circuit, the next stage is purely for the LEDS and they are hooked through a relay so we can have the LEDs on or off, the factory lighting on or off.

It does help - thanks for the clarification. I may leave the standard circuit alone for now and might give the fancy controller a try - I wouldn't mind having a high/low beam option with the Rigids so I can use them a bit more around traffic. Good thing to note Matthew... most of these aftermarket LEDS are wicked bright so mounting low(er) or dimming keeps opposing drivers less pissy

Yes Juan pissed one Guatemalan off when the car he was driving wouldn't dip his lights so Juan smacked him with the LEDS (he was riding Maya up front) and the car just about came to a stop cos he would be able to anything from arc-eye

haha nice! i have on off buttons on my HWY DB tripple clamp i'm going to run them to. Might run them individually. Maybe install a dimmer.

My brackets, came in the mail today from blackdog and they are awesome quality, mounted them up. Have to wait to fund the lights though with out the old lady finding out, on the otherhand birthday is coming up!

HID bulb in the stock headlamp housing... Baja Designs Squadrons added to the high beam circuit.

Nicely done Travel toad, those squadrons are sick!

looking at the two mounts shown in the thread, the Squadrons were mounted just a bit above the fender while the BDCW mounts the lights just under the fender...

any comments on if you notice any shadow or fall off from the fender or if one location or the other is better?

After a rekluse, lighting will be my next upgrade to the SE.

I can only comment on the BDCW and say there are no shadows cast anywhere from our location with the BDCW bracket, I have binned our bike a few times and the lights are not in the strike zone unless you find that unlucky rock where Murphy lives

Across the board fantastic setup with BDCW bracket and Rigid Ind lights.

No shadows.
