Hey Wranger, missed you post. Welcome back, you too Thorpe.
Can't ride this weekend. My next weekend days off are the 10th, 17th and 18th of Nov.
Anyone going to give me a reason to take of the sumo wheels?

Could be just the thing to create a Triumph sized space in your garage.

Putting out a call again for anyone riding on the 10th, 17th or 18th. Got a brand new trakmaster I need to give a workout.

This tire mounting tool looks pretty neat. Just sharing so someone can get one and I can come use it. :lol3

    Hi, all.

If my plans work out, I should be at Ft Gordon for 4.5 months beginning in June (yeah, I know that's a ways out, but I'm deployed and have lots of time to sit around and plan stuff). I was wondering if someone could describe the local adventure scene? Are there any dirt roads/trails on Ft Gordon for quick rides? What's the local area offer? How often are group rides? etc, etc

I lived in Augusta for 6 months in 2010 while attending another school. At the time I only had my Spyder, but spent a lot of time on the road (Moonshiner 28, the Dragon, Cherohala Skyway, and trips to St Augustine, Altanta, and New Orleans).

The first time around, the Army considered it a move, so I had my own apartment off post. This time around, it's "temporary duty," so I'll probably live on post. Given that and the logistics of transport, I'm on the fence as to whether I should bring one bike or two. I'm setting the WRR up for light touring, so I won't be too disappointed to leave the Spyder at home. I'm new to the two-wheel and off-road world, but don't want to pass up any opportunities for experience.

I'd appreciate any info you have to offer.

    Thanks,
    Joe

PS: I'll subcribe to this thread for a week to see responses. After that, you can get me on PM.

    Welcome ArmyJoe,

Don't know what Fort Gordon has to offer but there are lots of dualsport rides in and around Augusta and many are on gps tracks/routes. I have a 08 wrr and have been able to put about 13k on it mostly on day rides. Bring your wrr and post up when you get here and i'm sure we can do some riding.:D

Sorry Dan, I forgot all about this and was oncall this past week any way. If Marie is still sick this weekend I could do a ride. If she feels better we are scheduled to head to Savannah this weekend. So right now not sure what will happen. I haven't been checking here in a while trying to get back in shape an all. You still ride mountain bikes? If so we need to hook up and do some riding.

Welcome ArmyJoe. There are a lot of Dual Sport rides around here. Though you wouldn't know it because most of us around here are so busy with other things that we haven't made time to do any riding. But if you read this thread you can get some idea of what kinda of riding is around here. Should be a lot of pics. Wrangler is not too far from Ft G. so to speak of, ah dam probably shouldn't have said anything I'm sure that was classified. Spooks probably reading this now.:1drink

It has been decided for me (funny how that happens) that Sunday is a riding day.
