Thank you, Barron. :D I'm glad you got your bike registered in Japan! How much do the NX650, 5th gears cost?

Super Spud. Absolutely super job. Thanks!
I think I'll plan a trip up there.
What are the best mounths to ride where you did?
Is there camping along the way?

You're welcome. The warmest, driest months to ride here are July and August. The Highline Trail is entirely located within U.S. National Forest; therefore, campgrounds are abundant.

Great trip, SpudRider. The trail up Soda Peak was starting to get quite knurly, and pushing the limit where we want to be on a top heavy bike, out alone. All the way from Ogden, up through the Bear drainage, and back home again was quite a trip. Thank you for sharing.

I'd say that day 3 looks like the most fun to ride! I'll need to check that out if I ever end up out that way.

Thank you, PD. The last, northern section of the Highline Trail takes a few hours to complete. As the day was lengthening I had to decide whether I could complete the more technical parts of that trail before it got dark. I could have descended to pavement earlier, and left the last section of the trail unfinished, but it's one of my favorite rides. I decided I had enough time, so I completed the last section, and reached less technical, fire roads before the light departed.

Thank you for your kind words, gentlemen. :nod I looked through my files, and I found a few more photographs from the Highline Trail which I took on several other rides that month. I hope you enjoy viewing them. :nod

Spud, those last photographs of Highline look so elk-ky! The high steppe of northern Utah and southern Idaho are a bit dry, but perfect for early autumn riding.

You inspire us all. Somebody said it earlier--keep photo-ing.

Indeed, I basically took the trip down to Ogden so I could ride Highline Drive back to Idaho. Don't get me wrong; I enjoy riding around the Great Salt Lake, and riding along Skyline Drive at least once a year. However, I especially enjoy the trails, extended riding and scenery available along the Highline Trail. :deal

Here are a few more photographs I found in my files from previous rides along Highline Trail. :D

Yes, I remember talking to you; you have a very nice XR650R. :thumb I enjoyed talking to you. :D I met your friend later, when I backtracked to Bountiful Peak. You can see your friend's bike parked next to mine in the photograph below.

If you examine the next photograph closely, you can also see your friend enjoying the view from the end of the trail just west of the parking area.

    Nice ride!

There is some stuff in there that I might need to weave into my future Everett, WA to Lake Powell and back dream ride.

    Thank you for sharing!
