Is there a Barely Enduro'd It category?!

Yes, you are correct - motocross vs enduro, but either way, I'm enjoying "diving into the deep end of the pool to learn to swim :freaky

We'll see if I arrive alive in Cabo :augie

Thanks Haywood - this report would have gone into "Day Trippin'" since the dirt portion of the ride lasted 24 hours total over 2 days - but after I get back from RAGBRAI I'll post up the "Part B" which is the goings and returnings from Mexico - Durango state loop ride, Parras de la Fuente & The Wild Bunch "secret" movie location, and Casa Madera, oldest winery in the Americas.

Baja - still 60 days out but I'm already excited for over a week of dirt there, top to bottom, again, with riders who are ALL better than I. Deep end of the pool, again!

Ha! Once we saw that track from the balcony of the El Cid I was wondering if there would be a visit.......I have video of my laying down on the jump and you guys flying over me, but unfortunately, it didn't come out since the lens was covered in dirt. Shucks! :lol3:wink:

Oh man you can say that again.

SR is kicking around buying a condo now that the highway between DGO and MAZ is about to go wide open. Me, I could be happy with the Playa Mazatlan forever.

And you're not going to get Monkey Butt sitting on the big GSA with the Lay-Z-Boy seat, even with taking the curves on the Espinoza. Or, you might if you fly off the edge like those 2 guys did in your IMS report

    Trice,
You will love the Baja riding pleasures.

The race courses are a different sort of routes/terrain than rides like Kacey Smith's routes ( http://www.bajagpsguide.com/ ) ...her stuff is more along the lines of enduro, while the race courses are all double track and roads.

It's all good until you hit the silt :eek1 :

Well boys I'm only half way through this report and loving it:clap.

It embodies the true joy off off roading. Challenging yourself with the terrain at times, and enjoying the landscapes you're travelling through. You boys hit the nail on the head.

Nobody knows me at all but I just bought a KTM 500 in Los Angeles and had planned to do a bunch of offroading in Southeast US and Mexico before shipping it over to Thailand. Sadly a busted arm kept the off roading at bay during my multi month stay in Los Angeles and now I'm back in Thailand with my steed reading about your wonderful adventure:cry.

If by chance you're doing this again next year and there are even longer rides I'd love to get a line of communication started that could have me ship the 500 back to LA for some fun desert riding:deal. If there's a list getting started by all means put me on the list and feel free to PM me regarding any rides, suss out whether I'm worthy of an invite, etc.

Again an awesome ride and can't wait to digest the next 12 pages. Thanks heaps for the report.

Never been to Baja - might as well ride it top to bottom and get to know it - and how to ride it off-road. School's in.

Yes since I live primarily in Thailand all my riding is done is Southeast Asia (Thailand, Laos, Cambodia) which I have enjoyed thoroughly as there are no restrictions on trail access which is such a nice change from the states and something you guys were enjoying in Mexico. I had hoped to ride in my old stomping grounds of Southern California and experience mexico whilst back in California getting the bike, alas a broken arm kept me from enjoying the deserts sadly.

Getting crated up in Los Angeles.

And receiving it in the Thai Airport safe and sound.

More importantly, finally its ( and my first ride post arm break) shakedown ride camping in the jungles of Thailand on some singletrack.

I'll slowly get it accustomed to the mud and clay of SEA but it sure would like a shot at three foot deep sand whoops and rocky singletrack desert rides:lol3.

Maxxis have been removed, Tubliss inserted and other mods for its life of multi week offroading trips.

If you post a RR of you Baja trip I'd love it you can PM me a link. Offroading and DS ride reports are what I enjoy.

    Thanks again for the RR:clap.

If you were doing the ride unsupported what gas range would you need on this ride?
