heck ya!!!! I can handle 2 lb and $15
but I'd rather pay $60 for a super nice one ...

already got this system as part of my climbing gear. at $180 a bit pricey but seems components are rated for climbing.

much rather have OP's super cool/compact system at $60...

If it's a custom designed pulley then yeah, it's probably easily worth the $60 once you factor in your time.

I actually don't want it for riding, I want it for my elk hunting pack, super light, super compact, perfectly suited for someone hunting the backcountry solo.

ounces=pounds, pounds=pain. I definitely dont want a 4 pound block and tackle!!

it was a no brainer at $60 ... but at $100, think I'll use my existing climbing pulleys

No one has any in stock anymore, and ADV engineering is now defunked. :huh

Let me contact the guy who made them, and see if I can get another run done. No promises.

Any of you guys use one to get out of a situation you couldn't get out of on your own?

My experience with it is:

Plus - they really are light and they really are strong and small.

Negative - they have a large rolling coefficient of fiction. I'm just guessing here but I think you only end up with about a 2:1 advantage though of course will always pull 5:1. If any one is really interested I can try and get one of those luggage scales and get a more accurate number.
I can say it's uber important to keep all ropes and pulleys lined up perfectly though that is tough to do in rough situations.

I ended up getting a larger set that I'm guessing gives closer to a 3.5:1 advantage in a 5:1 configuration.

how big of a pulley system did you end up going with?

Just checking for any updates from the makers or from ScienceOfDirt.

I found the block and tackle set on CobraHeat's website. Ordered on 7/17, got Order Confirm on the 19th and cc was hit then. I asked for an update last week and got an Order Cancelled email this a.m., no explanation.

Guess I'll have to go with the pulley and a Z-drag system if we strike out on another run of the block and tackle.

I called several weeks ago and they said they had none in stock, and they are no longer in production.

Anything similar out there on the market?

BestRest products has some innovative stuff, not cheap... but then how much would you pay to avoid a hernia?

I would like to have a compact block and tackle just like the ones formerly produced by Adventure Engineering.

I might be able to get a local machinist to do a run of them. I was thinking UHMW spool on a stainless shaft in a aluminum house. I would use7/64" Amsteel spec'd at 1400 lbs minimum strength.

No doubt the cost would be reduced if they were made in a batch. I am hoping to get the cost around 100 per set.

Let me know if there is still interest in a product like this.

Want to get a ball park on price and size. I don't think it has to be as small as the EZ pull, also looking to get a better advantage than 2:1, if possible. Would be great to have a complete package of pulleys, carabiners, and rope, with enough strength to move an 800GS or Triumph 800XC.

Well I agree with the "ball park" on price/size part but I'm more interested in as small as possible for trailbike applications where the chances of needing to haul are higher due to the terrain difficulty .... though I guess there are probably riders here skilled enough to ride gnarly single track on a 800GS
