Great choice! A buddy of mine bought one last summer - nothing but good things to say about. He did change up the gearing to make it a bit more trail worthy, and says that this has not made it bad for road use either. BUT really helps off pavement!

I was talking to a guy on a 690 on Sunday and he loves his, but really wants a 500 now. Grass is always greener!

Smaller bikes are cool for obvious reasons. But if you are going to do any long distances between trails the extra power of a 690 can come in handy.

Congrats on your EXC. it should feel like a feather compared to that Diavel you were riding around last year :D

Ahhh, yes, the Diavel! I opted for the Monster anyway. I still do love the Diavel, however. Scares Harley guys at stop lights. In fact, it scared me!

The monster is a much better choice IMO. And I think that many others would agree.

    Congrats from a big fan.

I spent a few hours on my non knobbie tired Tiger up at Rawhyde yesterday. Tiger did just as well as the beemers. I fell twice on two downhills cause of my own stupidity, but the Tiger was pawin' like a kitten for stock set up. I have no doubt that the 990 will be better in that environment. I plan on finding out next Saturday.

The 990 excites me more than I ever anticipated!

I certainly will and I'm sure we will make it there this summer sometime.
