Happy to say YES! The CNC guys were very busy last months so only now they are milling the aluminium form... I have just returned from the CNC workshop and one half is finished and tomorrow will be ready the second part... than we need to do the construction holding the form... and filler screw thread and I believe by the end of April will be first pieces ready...

Looks very good Rade! I've had a fabricated aluminum "airbox" tank for a couple years now and my only complaint is that I have to pop off the seat to fill it. I need to replace my seat pan anyway so once I get the new one I think I'm going to cut a hole in the old seat and see about extending the filler through the seat. With the internal thread design of your tank, it looks like you could possibly just put a pipe nipple in and use that to extend through the seat? What are you planning for a cap? My tank is just under 5L (4.73L or 1.25G) so if yours is at least 6L and priced right, I may still be interested.
Any news on the viability of this, and any idea when you could ship a finished product? I am interested, but as the riding season is under way, I am looking for something in the near future. '13 KTM 690 R
Very interested. This looks like it would bring the total range for the 690 to over 200 mi which would be great. How is it plumbed? Would an expensive adapter at the stock tank be required (similar to rally raid tanks)?

I have spend a day yesterday mounting the tank in and good news - it fits there - mounting is easy - i didnt connected it with the rear tank yet, I have to clone the connection part, because I have only one piece now - I still need to find: a/ the tube to connect the air filter b/ the foam cap over the KN to avoid dust c/ one way valve for the air ventilation I hope I will do a test ride next week cheers

looks good...and with the feedback from everyone, it's probably the best way to add additional or emergency fuel as required. I was thinking about it more, and because I normally get 200kms, and I normally can manage stops between fuel stations..it really only has to work as a true reserve, so if I have to take the seat off for fueling...then its only slightly more effort than getting the spare 5l container wedged in my wolfmans...and I hate having the fuel in the wolfmans due to the fuel vapours stinking out anything else in that waterproof bag. will be interested to see how the bike performs and the induction noise generated by the different air intake setup. well done...
This looks to be an excellent piece. I especially like the the fact that it doesn't add any extra bulk to the bike (like the RR tanks, Safari, Rotopax, or others do). And because of where it sits, the weight of the extra fuel is in the right place for proper weight distribution. And the 5-6 Litre capacity is ideal for those who don't require supertanker loads of fuel. As long as the price tage is kept reasonable, it's a winner.
Rade, foam filters can be made (easily) by using bulk flat filter material from uni-filter and gluing it with PLIOBOND adhesive (recommended by uni-filter) http://www.bikebandit.com/uni-filter-bulk-filter-foam
Have you thought about the size of the air filter in this set up? Looking at other designs, they use substantially larger filters. How did you establish this size. Does it work well. I would hate to improve capacity but trade performance from a too small filter. Comments welcomed.
