I was 1,500 km from Vladivostok, I needed to buy the parts get them shipped to where I was and then still transport the bike to the US. Or transport it to the US and get it fixed there and I wasn't too sure if there were other issues.

On the balance of things I decided to leave it and get another one.

It adds to the trip IMO. As you've said it may not have been just the pressure spring. Could have been catastrophic. At least in the US things are easier to get and in all probability cheaper.....much cheaper..

Keep us updated with your progress. Are you doing a trip diary online?

AMEN... I've got a month off from school and some cashola in my pocket I'd be willing to fly to Vlad, hitchhike to the bike and bum a ride outta there with the bike... and I don't even OWN a ktm! :rofl

    Hi Craig :wave

Great to see that the trip is going well. Have to say that the 990's are the duck's nuts, now I know why you always had a big smile on your face!

    Thanks! Cheers,

LHS tank mounted (phew) there's a far bit of marking, measuring, trimming but all worthwhile

Relocate the seat keylock to RHS...

    measured twice...

trimmed up the LHS cover (should have left the front screw boss intact on the underseat plastic tray)...

trimmed some clearance in the rear guard for the fuel cap...

and nearly finished, just got to modify the LH rack mounting.

    again, thanks Pete! beautiful work!!

I only tried to make the install match the quality of your (now mine) Tank!
The grey and carbon looks much better in the flesh than my phone pics... actually makes the tank slightly 'stealth'
    Now to get it dirty!

I think I may need some more carbon fibre now :evil
