We stopped on Tomichi right above timber line and took a pic back at Hancock. Just the reverse of your pic. From what we were hearing the four by fours and side by sides (we must have seen a hundred of them on tin cup, Saturday) are what's tearing up those passes. When we were out before We did Hancock, Schofield, Mosquito, and Tin Cup, they were in better shape. Lots more loose rock now.
I think this is Hancock, from Tomichi. I sure like riding out there. Luckily we didn't see anyone on Tomichi, there's a lot of places where it would be tough to squeeze by another vehicle. :eek1

Tomichi Pass with Hancock in the background, more than I wanted on the klr. Thanks again to Jeff for helping me pick up the klr. [IMG]

If my bar ends weren't so mangled, and I didn't have deep gouges all over my side panels, and I didn't just have to get my radiator straightened out, and my shifter and brake pedals weren't all bent up, I'd say "I never drop mine". Ha.. I'm sure this'll be quoted some day when I have it listed in the flea market.

I'm free to ride tomorrow morning and plan to explore southwest of st. Gen.

I need to be to Festus at or before 1. I'll be down near 55 and Y around 8 to start meandering. I'll check this before the ride if anyone is interested in joining or being a tour guide:evil. Gravel, double track, creeks...whatever:deal.

I'm leaving west county at 7 and plan to slab down to the area 270 to 55 south.

Well, I think I'll be content to "never" ride Black Bear after watching that. :eek1
Have fun out there Bill. I know you will. :lol3

When I was a young pup, I rode many of the passes in Colorado. From the ridiculously easy like Cottonwood, Cumberland, Boreas and Independence to the modestly more challenging like Mosquito, Engineer, Cement Creek and Tincup to the more difficult ones.

Schofield and Black Bear fell into that last category.

If you're looking for a great list of all the neat passes try this link. http://www.traildamage.com/trails/index.php

Well as most of you probably know....not many trails to be found down this way. I found a number of gravel roads, but the only trails I found I didn't have the property owners blessing to ride. I spoke to a farmer who happened to be parking his DS and he confirmed what I'd concluded.

Dropped into the River Aux Vases for a little Creek and sand play. You can feel every ounce of the GSA when in the sand.

Found a few new connector roads and just enjoyed the time exploring.

Yep, when I was laying out the PHBR it was hard to even find good gravel or 2 track the closer to I-55 you got, moving west it became easer to find acceptable roads. :evil

I have experienced that myself, but thought I'd try to discover some hidden gems close to the mother in law for when I get to ride the morning of family events. Still a really good ride. The farmers trail was A1 ....If I would've ridden it:wink:

There have been some great riding days in and around Howell County this week.

Tonight I had to run our linens back to the cabin for another weekend.

Loaded with sheets and towels for 8.

Sounds great. Just out of curiosity, do you guys normally ride down gated roads? I try to stay public if possible.

The only adventure this week was washing my bike!:bubba
