My '05 Honda VTX 1800F uses an external fuel pump.
(Some years have internal and some years are external)
Bike recycle yards probably have several of these if you want to try used.

    Just FYI :1drink

Not sure if you want any constructive input but you may want to tilt that engine as far forward as possible. Moving it to the left, as far as you can will help with fuel tank clearance. I'm having issues with mine! My downtubes will probably not work as they are now and I don't think the Versys radiator will fit into my frame once I tilt the engine forward. It looks like the earlier swingarm may be the best fit as well. JMO!

I was thinking either stock klr or drz radiator because they sit on the side of the main down tube. The exhaust will probably go through and around the front down tube before heading back something similar to an xr exhaust

:thumb Just FYI - the 08+ KLR radiators are alu and a comparable size to the stock Ninja 650R rads, but the radiator fan is a bit smaller.

Best of luck with the project.

not even close. starting my first full time job doesn't help. i bought drz triples, i'm hoping to be able to run DRZ front end on this bike. want to get the bike sitting right first before i start making engine brackets, i noticed that other builds (klrsys) run the engine more upright then the stock slanted forward. not sure how it effects the engine but if it's designed a certain way then i don't want to deviate too much. maybe pics.

hell berzerkowitz, your in nyc right. beer for work?

    Just thinking out loud here...

Re: fears of fires with the external fuel pump

Is there some type of tip switch or mercury switch that could be wired in so once the bike passes a certain angle on its way down it cuts the power to the pump?? Or cutoff like a jet ski has and just clip the toggle to your jacket?? Figure if fire is a issue in a get off.... well your off... and let the get off, kill the pump.

Again just thinking out loud .....

    Good luck
