The luggage rack comment comfuses me. It doesn't have a rack at all, or at least nothing more than the base GS has meaning only the factory Vario bags would work in its current configuration.
You do realize that the service intervals are all "checks" except for oil, valves, right? Not to get into the whole "expensive to maintain" arguments happening in another thread. Never owned a bike brand that didn't have a service interval somewhere in the 5k mile range. Hardley, yamaha, bmw, aprilia. They all have them.
I realize a lot of things- checked the valve interval on a Multistrada lately? At one time they were dreaded... Happy to hear that BMW has at least reached 5 figure intervals
My 2012 is dead simple to maintain and the valves rarely require adjustment. Oil, filters and a throttle body synch is about it.
Yep, ducs have probably more than doubled...still labor intensive and costly...my riding mate just paid to have them done for the 15k interval. At the end of the day, ride what speaks to you and you can truly afford I guess. Not in any specific order.

Just imagine if BMW offered the GSA in standard GS height.. how many more they could sell... My '08 GSA I was able to swap in some GS Ohlins... no luck for the '13
I don't find the new GSA to be offensive. I think it'll still have to grow on me, but I could like it. I still love my '12 GSA though, can't see upgrading for a long while. Shh... It's sleeping.
I am going to predict that the new GSA will be offered with a no charge lowered option that retains the dynamic ESA.
I'm holding off, actually recently saw a couple reviews that mentioned missing low end power of the new water cooled engine compared to the camhead, that's what I like about the boxer, no need for an increase in max. horsepower, really need to test ride the new water cooled engine...
After riding a 1600gl in Germany-Switzerland-Austria-Germany for 2 weeks, I will say I would like that wind shield to be power adjustable.... Other then that, how wide is the seat? Earlier models had man height but little boy width. Put in a real ass option on the seats BMW!
