Hi all, With the increase in interest in adventure riding comes an increase in interest in adventure gear. I get a lot of questions about the MX453 and one I am asked most often is, "How does it fit?" The MX453 uses a long oval shape which is one of THE most popular in the United States. I've found that about 9 out of 10 people who put this on like or love the way it fits. Some feel the cheek pads are too tight, and when you first take it off the shelf, they might be. But they break-in quickly, and we've found that for most people, they form to a very comfortable fit that stays where it belongs when the road gets a little rough. I've found that the cheek pads break-in within about 100 miles and I've had one that I put over 3200 miles on and it still fit like it had at 100 miles. CHEEK PADS ARE INTERCHANGEABLE BETWEEN SIZES. You can swap the cheek pads between ALL sizes on the MX453. In this video, I goof and say the pads interchange between XS and XL. That was a mistake. They WILL swap between XS and XXL. If yours fits too tight or too loose, you can customize the fit by swapping pads. Unless this is VERY uncomfortable or too loose, I would stick with the stock pads and give them a chance to break in. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/2jONP7yIVDY" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> This is a comparison shot between medium pads and XL. The THICKER pads are the medium pads. The smaller the size, the thicker the pad and the larger the size the thinner the pad. The MX453 is FIBERGLASS. Fiberglass is a great material for building a helmet. It is a more expensive material that absorbs and disperses energy efficiently and you can build a helmet that is lighter in weight. I finally had the chance to wear the mx442 helmet for some serious hours yesterday. I wore it from around 9am to 6pm, only breaking for lunch. Mostly off-road, with a few short road sections. High speed stuff and low speed stuff. First, it fits as good as my Arai. No question about that. It was more comfortable by the end of the day because it is so much lighter. I had very little neck fatigue. It fit fine with my Scott goggles. I wear contacts mostly, but I did try wearing my glasses. It is hard to get my wire framed glasses into the helmet. The ear pads didn't want to cooperate there. My Arai wins in that department. At speeds over 75, the peak did feel a bit like a kite. I will adjust it's position today. It was surprisingly quiet at speed though. I was very surprised All in all, so far, I give it an A. I'll race (well, as slow as I am, that's a relative statement) Sandblast rally Saturday. I'll give another update then.
Spoke with Brian at Atomic Moto last night and placed an order for a MX 453. Look forward to receiving the helmet and posting up my thoughts.

Hi all, Working for LS2 is not ALL about helmets. I get to do and see some pretty cool things. About 6 months ago, I was visiting some close friends of mine and they showed me a box of rusty, corroded old parts that they were sending to the legendary Dick Mann. A few weeks later, he had turned that box of parts into this. Yep, it is street legal. It has the original style "Made in England" sticker on the frame, and on the swing arm, in a very similar font a sticker that says "Remade in Nevada." Pretty cool and I thought you all might like to see it.

Hi all, On another thread here the topic of the OF569 came up. The OF569 is a 3/4, open face design. It has our Full Eclipse retractable sun screen and a flip-up face shield. It has incredible peripheral visibility. Scroll down and you can see what REALLY sets the OF569 apart from the competition - the 4-point retention system. Top vents flow through and are ported out the back for flow-through ventilation. The OF569 has a DOT/ECE approved quick release chin strap. But the feature that really separates the LS2 OF569 from other motorcycle helmets in its class is the 4-point retention system. It has the normal chin strap, but there are also two additional straps that reach behind the head and rivet to the back of the shell. These create a cradling effect that helps hold the helmet in place in the event of a tumble. The Full Eclipse Sun Screen is activated using this switch. The LS2 OF569 open face motorcycle helmet is ECE and DOT approved and has a suggested retail of $129.99.
I just bought this helmet and it is really gorgeous. Love all the neat features and can't beat the price. However, it is really small compared to my FF386 - a large that fits me perfectly. It seems the shape is also rounder (not at all oval like the FF386) and presses on my forehead. I am actually disappointed. I'm not sure that I will be able to live with it in the hopes that it will break in. My knoggin circumference measures about 59cm plus maybe a 1/4 or 3/8. So Phil, what's your experience with this model? Do you think should I try and exchange it for another large? Or should I go up to an X-Large? I don't like loose helmets at all. That's almost worse than a tight one which might eventually break in.
Hi cpallen, I'm sorry to hear this. It is possible that the EPS on the F569 is just not the right shape for you. Most find it very similar to the FF386, but like you, it feels less of an oval than the 386 to me. I personally had to go one size larger than I normally wear due to the shape, but for my head shape, it was still snug enough to be safe. The good news is that you can swap the top padding in this model, so if you wanted to try an XL top pad, it would be an easy swap and you can leave the cheek pads alone. Large - XXL use the same EPS size. The question I'd need you to answer is whether it is a matter of padding or if, even with a little thinner padding, it would still put pressure where you don't want it. Thanks Phil for your quick response. I pulled the top padding out and I have plenty of room with just the eps so it would seem that thinner padding would work. Now, how can I get the XL padding? From the vendor where I purchased the helmet? Thanks, this should salvage the situation.
None of us really like to think about falling off, but we also know it is a reality of riding motorcycles. Sometimes people and bikes fall down. There was a helmet impact study done by a man named Dietmar Otte. It shows that there is a 62.8% chance that you will hit your face in the event of a crash. Pretty good argument for wearing a full face helmet. So why would LS2 Helmets make 1/2 helmets and open face? Well, first because according to the CDC, you have a 37% better chance of surviving a motorcycle accident by wearing ANY DOT approved helmet and we want people to wear a helmet, whether they want a full face or not. Second, because we know that riding is a calculated risk and we believe in freedom of choice. We also believe the safest riders are trained and educated riders.
