    Smooth is fast.:D

The more you do it,the easyer it becomes.
Speed comes with time. The smoother you are the faster you'll be.
Getting your suspention set right, and a mix of proper blend braking, and line choice will help alot.IMHO:1drink
Lee Parks told me at a riders seminar, the bike steers better when the wheels are spinning. What he meant was picking the line in and out of turns and being smooth and steady sheding and picking up speed, with the least amount of chassi disruption is more important then how fast the speedo says.
    Blah,blah,blah,,,glad you liked the track,keep it going.:freaky

Even after this ride my plan for 2012 stays the same. I'm going to listen, watch and learn this year then join the club and start riding in 2013. Then something unprecedented happens. Duncan, a small town on Vancouver Island about 50km from Victoria, is celebrating its 100th anniversary. Some of you may know Don Hatton, a Canadian rally racer and Dakar participant. Don lives in Duncan and he's teamed with councillor Shirley Jackson to add some motorcycle events to the festivities including a supermoto race on the streets of Duncan! :clap They enlist the club's help and it's off to the races!!! This is a history making event as there's never before been a motorcycle race on city streets in British Columbia. How can I resist? I'm not going to let the fact that the race is in a month and I don't really have a clue stop me from taking part :deal :D

Great story and best of luck! It looks like they run the opposite direction from the last time I raced there? Here is a pic from a 2003 Supermoto USA race at Western.

Thanks everybody for following along. There's been supermoto at the track in Victoria for a while. We run different courses every week so sometimes we run the track one way, sometimes another. Back when you were riding the track Pete there was a dirt section. I'm not sure what happened to it but it doesn't look like the motocross track was there in 2003. Last summer we put in a new dirt section, there will be pictures in a few days. Last year we got to use part of the motocross track as our dirt section a couple of times, that was the best!

And other motorcycle racing before that! My buddies and I used to bring our road race bikes up to the island and race in circles at Western and Saratoga Speedway in Campbell River back in the 90's. :eek1 Is Saratoga still around, it was pretty rough back in the day.

How did you finish out the season???

Since there are so few female racers out there. I try to keep up with how they are doing. PM me if you are on FB, we have a female racer page you should get in on.

Just found this thread, two thumbs up from the Mainland!

the guy who commented about looking further through the corners is absolutely correct.. both on track and on the street!

ignore the GP bikes, in the rest of the universe, smooth is fast and fast is smooth.

    Looking forward to more tales!

    cheers,
    S.
