some of the places we ride and camp and visit in this amazingly beautiful state, i have seen on his PBS programs.

i met him at a coffee shop 2 years ago and he was as nice as you see on TV.

    RIP Huell Howser.

'95 Ford Aerostar Real World MPG ??

any of you guys ever own one?

since my main rides now are my two trials bikes I was thinking of getting a small van..the astro/safari dont seem to get better then a truck but I hear the 3.0 Aerostar does pretty good like mid 20's ? any truth to this ?

I found a super clean low milage one locally on the cheap..going to go take measurements today to make sure both can fit in at same time.. If this thing can pull 22 mpg I may pull the trigger.

on uphills and under heavy gas it won't get very good mpg.

I have a E250 I use mainly for business sometimes for the bikes but MPG on that thing make my Dodge Ram with 5.9 look amazing and it is usueually overkill for one trials bike.

a hauler that gets mid 20's is my goal.. Eurovan maybe ? Herrhelemet whats the word on these ? you gots one right?

I hate to be so negative, but the Aerostar was a giant POS. The Astro not much better. Mini-vans are just sooooo soccer-mom. Probably not any good for hauling a bike either.

A Sprinter is the hot setup, but they can be spendy. A big-3 full size are cheap to buy used with some miles, but seem to hold up well. None are great on mileage.

I would choose a small pickup over all of them. Or a box trailer and pull it with what you've got. I know, a trailer is not nearly as handy, and you have to have a place to park it.

We had a '93 for 14-15 years and got around 15 city, 20 hwy. They're not real easy to work on, but they have the removable engine cover that helps. The 3.0 is reliable but doesn't have alot of balls and will do the job, but haulin bikes may be a different story. Also, the transmissions are pretty weak. Did you find one with the rear barn doors?

Check the FTE website... http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/index.php I never understood why the FTE Aerostar community thinks these are the best things since sliced bread.
