I will send you a PM with my exact requirements for my 19/17 inch set-up. Any recommendations that you have regarding Excel versus____?? and available colours would be appreciated. I am thinking KTM (or closest) orange for the rims, hubs?? (black?), spokes are there colour choices. Cross-lacing and superlacing of course, and supersize I guess. Also wondering about cost to going sealed versus staying with tubes? Oh yeah shipping to ZIP 13669-3474.

I purchased a cush hub from your shop about 2 years ago and the big bearing on the the sprocket side went out. As info its a 2007 KTM 450 exc. The question here is do you have a replacement bearing, dust cover and how much? Other than this, the wheel has been perfect with no broken spokes like I had on my stock rear wheel.

well,,it would help to know what brand hub you bought,,,if it is a RAD we may want to check/measure the bearing bore,,,i'll check with them if it is under warranty,,,,

in the meantime,,,i'll need to know the bearing #/dimensions as well as the seal specs...should'nt be more than $20 for bearing and seal.

Have an 09 r12gs w/ the spoked rims. I'm seriously considering getting into the sidecar adv w/ my gs.

Is there a better spoke set up for such a high load bearing issue?

i think that the X-laced wheels make good candidates for sidecar use...they have plenty of strength for lateral loads ,,we do beef em with 8g ss spokes n nipples....
am working on 15'' mag wheels to be adapted for use on the rear of the bike that way you can use real car tires tubeless sporting a nice flat profile ..we often use michelin 145s a bit smaller in overall diameter hence lowering your gearing some,,,works...

How quick of a turn around do you have for wheel straightening? I have an XR650R coming this week that has a slight bend on the front wheel. It is only bent on one lip(right side) It is only bent by about 3/16" or so. Is this something that I could drop off and maybe go have some lunch or run around for a few hours and then pick up? I will pm you a pic of the damage. Thanks!!

hi like i mentioned in your PM,,circa $70-100 is usual range for straighte an dre-true rim....

all you have to do is tell Jil our counter girl and we'll get you in and out of there,,,give us an hour or two,,,there's a bar n grill a block from us...

we've corresponded on e-mail some. So what would be the best rim size and width for a dirt road blaster with the occasional rocky mining road thrown in. all on a 500 lb bike with 7"rr and 8"frt travel

probably 1.85 x21 up front and 3.5x17 rear with a 150/70x17 tire fro alla round maybe a 2.5x18 if ya really want a large selection of knobbies....

yea that sounds good I was leaning to the 18" and 21" just for the large skinny tire look and tire selection. didn't know how good it would be on the gravel roads. I guess pretty sweet the dirt track guys run tall skinny tires and this bike will resemble the flat track look

Hi Woody,

I'm new to all this and I just picked up a BMW F8 that I'm trying to manage on a 29" inseam. My off road riding will be logging roads and gravel, nothing too wild. Could I get the 21" front changed over to a 19" for the better on road handling and so the bike doesn't give me such a nosebleed?

Peter,,happy new year and we can make you even happier by truly lowering your bike close to inch i think....
simply by swapping rims n tires....without compromising your riding experience ,,it will certainly enhance it on the slab..

before i get into specifics i need to know what model F8 and your current rim and tire sizes,,,,

Happy New Year to you as well, thanks for the quick reply. The bike is a 2009 F800GS with 16K on it. The front wheel is 21", but you knew that. The tire is a new Battlewing, 90/90/-21 the wheel is 2.15x21, the rear is 4.25 x 17 tire is 150/70-17

ok ,,we can lower front end circa 3/4-1inch by going to 2.5x19 sporting 110/80x19 tires

up dated 1/7/11...and the rear is going to be a little tricky...i just did some re-checking,,must've had a brain fart:>)

when i reviewed what i suggested i realized the truth lurks between the chart and what's actually available in the dual-sport/or any tire range

so ...the tire height from the bead=
150/70x17=150mm x 70%=105mm
140/80x17 =112 actually 7mm taller than the 150/70
130/80=x17= 104mm bike is lowered 1mm
150/60x17= 90mm wow...that will lower the rear 15mm or 5/8'' and needs a4.25x17 rim which you have....unfortunately only Avon specs this tire for super motard use ,,it's real sticky for racing and NOT recommended for heavier bikes

bottom line is theirs not much we can do with the rear to help

what do you recommend for the 800gs to replace the cheap stock rims and possibly the rear size...? tubeless? excel? bearings?

also what would you say for the f650gs twin? alloy wheels work? my mom's a very cautious and lightweight rider...

I'm very interested in doing the front. What will the $400 include? Is there any downside to the conversion? I will have access to the bike around the 11th of the month, how do proceed for there. I'll be shipping the wheel out to you from the SF Bay area.
