i have to figure out how much travel is in the shock so i can get the right hight how much travel is in that air shock i gave you i have no way to compress mine thanks
looking for info on sway bars any pics and info would be appreciated and yes i looked up everything i could find on here thanks in advanced

I've riden it two summers now without one but with the long travel suspension I know it would make a huge difference. When I turn right the bike leans left. First question, if I use 5/8 4130 and bend it cold how important is heat treating? Without treating would it just twist out of shape after a few bumps? Second, I can run the bar over the sidecar frame under the body. The normal way puts the brackets under the frame. Will they work on top or are they too thin? Is there a lot of upward pressure? I can make something heavier or fab. a loop to use the regular brackets the way they normally go. If I'm talking like a madman don't be shy, let me know where I'm going wrong. Thanks guys. When I got mine back from heat treating, it had distorted slightly. I tried to straighten it out. Need less to say it is still distorted and works great. If you were going to try to use one with out heat treating, I would use a larger diameter. I dont think that 5/8 diameter would be springy enough. Not sure how large you would need to go to achieve the same results. Trial and error method. I cold bent my bar and had it heat treated. It did distort a little when treated and afterwards I could not bend it. If its not treated I think it would just bend. My original plan was to run the bar between the sidecar body and frame, but ended up going underneath, just wasn't quite enough room. Functionally I don't see where it would matter top or bottom. It took a little calling around to find a shop with a big enough oven to do the swaybar. Once heat treated, it appears to hold tensile strength quite well - I don't think my swaybar would have survived the suspension hit it took otherwise in my early summer accident, which bent up the sidecar suspension itself quite badly. I've underslung the swaybar itself under the sidecar frame using bearing block ends, rather than the more common eurethane bushing method.. i subscribed firmly to the 'when in doubt build it stout' school of design when it went together. I've got more photo's up of the swaybar buildup on http://home.cogeco.ca/~wstrong/index7.html if you are interested. Zipper, I'm probably way off but I was looking at the rocker arrangement and was wondering if moving the lower mount for the front adjuster tube towards the left so t he upper end of the adjuster was on the left of the rocker would result in more balanced load on the pivot bearing? This would also position the lower mount closer to the main frame tube so there would be less flex in the mount. I'd post pictures of the first stages of my project but I'd be embarrassed to see them next to your work. Ken
Mines a big chair that could haul allot of stuff, your will probably be lighter and maybe could do with a smaller swaybar setup, this really works though and one can crank preload into the bar and it acts like a spring making the suspension much stiffer. End of bar sidecar not mounted. Final drive side Sidecar swing arm side. Above sidecar swing arm. You've got allot to do this winter, building a body and making this all work,good luck.DB
Simple and it gets stiff very fast disconnect one end of sway bar (take aluminum arm splined onto bar off) jack up either the bike or the chair reconnect sway bar, I settled on neutral but will try raising chair side just a little next year.DB
Looks wide what's the track now ? Since its a giant Ural will the body be extra wide ? Your already the most accomplished home builder on the site.Don't get snowed into the garage.DB
spare harley shock not sure which one im running yet the track is at 56 center to center what is yours
I'm not Claude but mines only 52" c-c, your wheel base is only a about 58.5 I would be asking someone with more experience what track should be.DB
