Well.... The Givi was a Monolock case so it used a universal adapter plate for any rack that was tubular... I switched the mounting bolts to shorter ones, so it would work with the DP Rack for the Hyper, thats all. Since then, I have easily carried 10-15 lbs in the case with no worries. About 2 mths ago, I was riding with nothing in the case, stopped for water at the store, and realized that the rack snapped in half right next to the weld. Fortunately, the dealer swapped it under warrantee, but I didnt bother putting it back on.

Below are a couple of pics for my current luggage.
- I have the DP handlebar bag for short random trips.
- I use a Cortech 8 liter tank bag for longer trips. The bag straps down and uses three snapable clips (two in front, one in back). Getting access to refill the tank isnt hard at all.
- I have the Cortech Sport Tailbag for longer weekend runs.
These photos have all three currently installed. Also in the photos you will see my new seat. I bought the bike with the stock seat and DP Performance together. I recently had the stock seat rebuilt into a touring seat by Mr Ed Moto in Albany Oregon.

I did a couple long distance rides in Aug with my girlfriend. She was on her 250 so we were top speed limited. I found in 6th gear at 75 doing about 3200rpm, I was easily getting 50-54 mph so with the large CA tank, I was seeing over 300 miles easily. The last photo is my current riding configuration when all the bikes are removed (for reference). I miss the Givi for functionality, but the rack was always an area of concern for me.

here is the official e-mail ....... I spent most of today working on my DR350 and wiring GPS to the Hyper .... I will ride it Sunday and see what happens.

There was some extra clearance on the valve inspection cap. He corrected it by applying Ducati 1215 sealant to it. It was an easy fix and we don't anticipate the problem to reoccur. However, if you ever have anyone do your valve service other than us in the future you might want to mention that they need to use the sealer on that cap or the problem may happen again.

this is looking like my final set up

1) 09 Hyper
2) Riggs tank bag with suction cup attachment (very surprised at how well this works)
3) Cortech tail bag and saddle bags (enough for a 3 or 4 day trip easy though rain covers look iffy)

I think these are battle axe tires... not bad handling but they are not going to make 2,500 miles :huh

First ride since I got the Duc back....... 160 + miles today..... Oil leak is back :huh


I am more than disappointed with this dealer and or Ducati

I have now asked for someone from Ducati get involved anyone have suggestions ???

I know being a ass is not going to help but what buttons should I be pushing?

Just added a 2009 1100s Hypermotard to the flock. ( BMW 800GS also ).
Great bike. Love it. I have the Termi 2 into 1 which adds some HP and it goes like stink! I also have the 6 gallon tank and a few other options. Did my first 200 mile plus ride and was surprised at how comfortable I was on various road conditions.. I think the bike is a great second bike. View attachment 254424

is that then one that was sitting at pro italia like a month ago? also anyone wanna swap their stock flywheel for a lightweight flywheel, just got a 09 hym s that came with a lightweight one and i think id like the heavy flywheel better

Yes... it was Pro Italia and I bought it in Feb. Had 1200 miles on it. Has the Ohlins , Carbon tank cover and best of all the 6.6 gallon fuel tank !

Question about the clutch cover that people change that open and expose the clutch. Is that a performance thing or a hear the dry clutch sound louder..?

Some claim that it helps the clutch run a bit cooler and that the dust does not accumulate. Personally, I think it really comes down to preference. I have the stock cover on my Hyper, and an open cover on my 1098. The open cover looks great, you see moving parts, etc., but it is as noisy as all get-out.

And it's like leaving a food processor at ground level, so you'd probably want to keep small children away. "oh, shiny." wack,wack,wack!

thought I'd add some more flavour to the pot...

I traded my 1100 on a 796 and although only got around 3,oookm I am so glad I did; lighter, better fuel distance (300km/cruise), much better seat (I retained my DP racing seat but prefer the standard!), much the same bike, similar power but less torque..much more fun(for me) changing gears and reving than torquing my way around bends.. I love it!!

Sorry for not posting sooner.... Ducati is replacing the head and a few other parts under warranty. I just dropped her off at Myers in Asheville NC today ..... they also checked and my bike should not have any fuel tank issues that some models have had.

I have every reason to believe this is going to be the end of the problem.


I will update in about two weeks when I get it back and finish off those tires.

ok... Duc is home but I have not ridden any further than my office to home.... no oil leak.... but it never happened on anything less than go mode and and a 100 miles or so of that .... I have not had time to do that.


BTW .... I need best tire choice for

A) aggressive street riding

and

B) Sport Touring like to get 5Kis out of them


I am planing on have two set of wheels so I can just swap em when needed.

I went with Pilot Powers. Can't say how long they will last but my Duc mechanic says he thinks I should get 5kmi. Originals only lasted 2700 miles.

I plan on putting BT016's on at next change, for street riding.

I had those on my Hyper and they were great!

I put 7850 miles on the rear Continental Road Attack on my ‘96 Buell S1. Sure beat the 3000 miles I had been getting with any other rear tire that I had on that bike. I was seeing cords on the others by 3000 miles.
No complaints. Didn’t treat it easy, lots of low end torque meant lots of quick launches.
Kept them pumped up tight. Maybe 38 psi front & 42 rear.

I saw in the January issue of Cycle World where they tried out the *new* Continental Road Attack 2. They seemed to like them.
Motor Cyclist tried them too.

I still don’t have a Hyper. No used ones here & my dealer can’t locate any new ones.
It will be my next bike.

I think I will gives these a try ...... If you have not riden a Hyper the first thing you will say is "where is the front tire??" .... it feels like its tucked under the motor until you get the feel of it.
