That is good to know also.
The station closest to me on Olive Road (XPress Mart) only has the 100% ethanol free in 89 octane.
Now I know where to get 91.
Thanks on behalf of my high performance small engines.

The BP at Scenic Highway and I-10 sells 100% gas that is marked 89 octane but I have checked with the delivery guy several times and he is delivering 91 Octane/100% gas. If you are headed from the West to Blackwater or Eglin, this is a convenient stopping point.

    We have the technology.
    All we lack is knowledge.

The plan is to leave from Mt. Cheaha (or Oxford) last friday of October and jump on the Trans Eastern Trail and head northeast into Georgia and take one of those green tracks towards Suches then back to Elijay then return trip back on TET to where we parked.
We should be getting back there sunday dark-30 or Monday sometime.

Packin light with undies, socks and a toothbrush. Gets dark, we route to motel someplace. Get hungry or need gas we get it when we can,,,or route to it.
Total trust in the Montana GPS,,,,and we know how those things lie. :lol3

With that said, I'm expecting only 2 or 3 dummies to go with me. :clap

    Wish us luck.

    Jim,
Most of this route will be new to me.

A year or so ago, we followed along on the ADV sight as a gang from Florida made the TET loop from Tallahasee north hugging the eastern side of Alabama to as far north as Ellijay Georgia. Then turned south along the eastern side of Georgia.
Except for lots of dust and resulting cases of emphazema, they did just fine.
    They got some info here:
    http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=589118

What I have in mind is much shorter, but will take two days of bike riding on dirt and street.
Trailer up on a friday, bike ride sat/sun and trailer home monday.

A unshakable good attitude will be required by all of us along with a very few personal items.
We came to ride and we're traveling light.

    Thanks Eloy,
Busy this month with ride up to the Barbers Vintage Event starting this coming weekend and a ride in the Smokeys the following week.
Looking like the last weekend of October will suddenly be upon us with very little time to do detailed preparation for the Cheaha ride.

Sounds like the best kinda fun to me.

FWIW I did the TET about 1 1/2 years ago.
Cheaha to Suches is a pretty good 1 day ride on the Route and I found it very easy to follow, with no major issues.

The only questionable area was just southeast of Summerville GA where the road was posted as No Trespassing and my maps did not have any roads showing where the route was. Blindly following the TET lines on the GPS got me through just fine.

FWIW The ORV area is a side track off the route south of Ft Mountain, the TET runs to the North of Ft Mountain on CCC roads.

I did not take DR.Z's detour as I was on a street rubber shod Versys.

BTW what do you mean by last weekend of October? 10/25-10/27

    Thanks for that info Steve.
Yes 25-26-27-28 trailer up friday to most likely Oxford and settle in at the hortel across the street from Walmart. Grab a steak and beer at OutBack next door and leave sat morning.
Make it to Suches area,,,,gotta zillion miles of tracks for that area,,,Ride as much as time allows and rest that night "somewhere". Head back south sunday and ride till darkthirty. Stay in the same place as friday and head home monday.

I was wondering about time vs mileage for a day in that area.

We'll be on our dualsports and scootin along pretty good at a pace that I wouldnt be able to sustain on my 650 VStrom.
Gonna look into spending saturday night in Ellijay, Blue Ridge or Morganton and that could be a real problem with the "leaf lookers" taking over the mountains.

May not have time to check out ORV's.

    KIP!
I'll have room for you on my trailer and Jeep Cherokee.

Robin and I stayed in Ellijay a couple months ago and did the TET. It's a nice ride from there. It was all day frm there to Franklin where we stayed. You could do that run Tony.

May be looking at a stock airhead '85 R80 BMW. My bud wants it out of his garage. It has sat in there for about 3 years. It has about 45k miles. It's factory stock, has the bmw luggage racks and luggage. No windscreen. Refreshed about 4 years ago, prior to baking in the garage for the last few years. Carbs and fuel system most likely need gone through. All else is uber clean. No dents scratches, tears, etc.

Know nothing of the R series road bikes - or Bimmers in general. This one is black and is very, very clean. Looking at maybe buying for around a grand.

    Any wisdom/guidance?

Mugwest (or anyone else) to the courtesy phone.

My Transalp will transfer in the not too distant future...

The R80 was one of the smoothest of the airheads. Put up some pics. I might buy it for a grand just for fun..:D
