Cool pic Grreatdog. I think you need another one of these. You rode that thing enough to wear the paint off of the tank. Good job! I've never seen another XL600 with paint worn off there.
I loved the seat, power and cornering. But I had to ditch it after my second right ankle surgery for something with electric start. Doctor's orders. Otherwise I might still be riding it. That patina was mostly from the PO that wracked up 20,000 or so miles on it. I put another few thousand more on it and sold it back to him. AFAIK he is still riding it three years later. The reason it was perched on the log was a bent dogbone link. This was right after the PO bought it back from me. We finished the ride after he made some precise adjustments.
