Rumor has it Doulos is putting together a Sunday ride. I'm in DC until Saturday, so don't have any details, but I mentioned the mysterious road halfway up Tibbs and I think there is some interest. If I'm willing to try the crossing on big fat Rosie, you can do it on your DRZ...

Squirrely, is your bike still in one piece?

If you do replace it, I may be interested in picking up your old one. I'm desperate for an inexpensive dual sport.

SV ~ It needs a whole new head a total of about $1k invested in the engine and to be honest, there's no telling what the bottom end looks like.

The top end is dis-assembled, with all the parts in my garage, unless you're a phenomenal mechanic,
One guy inquired about it and I said $300 without all the farkles, $700 with

So........ tell me about inexpensive motorcycles :lol3

Damn...how many miles did you get out of it again??

XT225 is what I am thinking. They're out there for less than 2 grand.

I plan on ripping up Suck Creek Rd. a good bit tomorrow afternoon, alas, my motorcycle is a mere sv650 incapable of riding off road.

I hate to divert this thread away from motorcycles, but here's a shot in the dark... Laughing Skull in the big bottles, in 12ozers. Anybody want to buy a bunch of it (locally) pm me. I'm not much of a beer drinker.

What if any shops are there local to the Chattanooga area for gear purchasing? In particular I'm looking for adv type riding gear. Most of my riding is on asphault and gravel roads with some dirt roads in the forest. My street gear works fine for most of it, but I would like to find some more gear suited for low speed offs when playing in the woods. How can I have any fun if I don't fall over every now and again?

The internet is all I know of. None of the local shops are gonna have much to offer. Screw Southern Honda they're a bunch of idiots over there.

It seems to be that way most places. In KY it wasn't too far to drive to Columbus, Ohio, to Iron Pony Motorsports. A lot of the street bikers I knew would carpool up there once a year or so. I hate going to the post office or FedEx to return things that don't fit. I've got four different street jackets from newenough back in the day, and I only wear two. Oh, there's that instant gratification and all of a brick and mortar too. :D

I'm off tomorrow, so maybe I'll hit up the internet dealers after I ride around Big Frog.

I've bought a lot of stuff from Anothony (the parts manager) at southern over the years as he can get any of the major brand/distributor stuff quickly (like next day in most cases). I call him when i'm coming thru town and he can get whatever I need pretty quickly.

I'm trying to get him to stock a bit more ADV stuff as with Tellico Moto and Acme in Atlanta gone, it's pretty thin. I was wanting some Kreiga luggage and no one stocks it in the SE, maybe I can get him to put some in.. and some other brands like Klim? Most of the "good stuff" is all sold direct (vs large distributors like Parts Unlimited and Tucker Rocky) so it's harder to stock the small stuff, plus not many have sales reps to keep track of your stuff and rotate stock, etc.

but yes, even in ATL it's thin. BMW of Atlanta has some riding gear in but it tends to be a bit pricey but at least they have it and it's good quality.
