Thanks! The racks are made and sold by Dual-Star for about $180.00 US. http://www.dual-star.com but I don't believe you'll find them on the web site yet. Nice welds, good powder coating matching the frame color well. Design allows the use of Givi, Hepco Becker, Daerr or Zega boxes with minor add-on's, also has an optional tool box mounted on the left side on the back side of the rack. This is the only one piece rack I have found that work well with the Laser exhaust, though they are really 3 piece. The rear bolts onto the side racks. I had used a Mac-D one piece but the exhaust tip would irritatingly rattle against the rear bar.
Here she is, still brand new and smelling like burned paint when I ride it. Lots of accesories to come. I have a set of PIAA's and some hanguard wind deflectors sitting on the desk right here. Keep an eye out in the Trip reports section to see the bikes evolution!
Here is my Lil Thumper: 2002 KatOOM 400 MXC I will send pics of it in its Supermoto guise next week! Scotty
Well, new to me anyways...I just picked it up last Tuesday. It's a '96 DR350SE with about 4,200 miles on it. Battery doesn't like to hold a charge and the chain was left outside much too long...both are easy to replace and I have the new battery charged and ready to be installed. Yesterday, I replaced the front brake pads and bled front and rear brakes (they were mushy before and much better now). Next up, pull the spark plug and see what it has to say about the engine. So far, it starts right up very quickly even when cold...if the battery is fresh. But I suspect the plug is original equipment so it's time to freshen it up a bit. Air filter was filthy but now it has a brand new, freshly oiled, Uni filter. Runs fine, pulls OK, but won't lift the wheel in second when slamming throttle open...I'll have to try first gear (and also maybe try with a bit better technique). I may change the sprocket sizes when I replace the chain...this bike is mostly for dirt and doesn't need to do 70+ on the highway so I can play with sprocket ratios to get better low-end... Thwack
Hey Thwack Cool new scoot, my younger daughter's boyfriend is shop'n for one of those. If ya want some company to practice with at Hollister Hills or Clear Creek, just let me know...I'll bring the Katoom
Thanks. I found it on eBay after looking all over the place. If you daughter's boyfriend budget stretches to the upper $2K range, there's allegedly a '98 DR350 way down south: http://www.delamo-motorsports.com/viewItem.asp?idProduct=530 DRZ400 has more power but I didn't feel like paying an extra $1500-$2000 required to snag a DRZ400S instead of the DR350SE I got... Sounds good. I need to finish cleaning this one up before I do any serious riding. Tires have some fine cracks showing so I figure I shouldn't put much riding on them. I'll dig into sprockets and chain soon and probably do new tires since I'll have the rear off anyways. After that, I'm all for playing in the dirt! Thanks, Thwack
