Here is a great deal! Won't last long!! http://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-TOOL-KI...0686&pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr
The thing is, if someone is doing a correct concourse restore that wants everything to be the correct original part, this will sell. The repop has bigger letters and to those that know, stands out like a sore thumb. Repop: Correct is this auction.
Ebays Lamontsamsturd chucked a couple of these rags in with my last decent order. His listings are a sensible price too.
+1 on "LamontSanford". However, based upon my experience be careful w/ "Johnnybentwrench". His name, at least, is accurate.
Agree on Lamontsanford. Anybody know what kind of set up they have? I think it's two people. May be more.
I listed one of those on EBay a year ago and it sold for $30.00 if memory serves me. I was shocked it brought that much. :eek1
Funny or not? I've never heard of this. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...&viewitem=&sspagename=ADME:B:SS:US:1123#v4-42
A little Googlin' and all seems legit. His price, however, might be not. Might even be the same bike. Oddly, BMW must have made just one or two because I cannot locate anything else, anywhere. http://www.dupontregistry.com/autos/search/DRauSearchDetails.aspx?itemid=1140794
Not sure why a sales house with a story that no one else has ever heard adds any legitimacy to the provenance of this bike. More evidence required!
I call Bull S*** on this one. There are too many non BMW parts on this bike and the only early post 70 BMW I have seen as a factory special was a gold R75/5.
I agree. Why would it have foam grips and a Reynolds backrest? It's also missing the dog legs for the passenger footrests. The red paint is pretty, though... Even if it's legit, "Last Edition" bikes are not fetching much money, nor are the 75th Anniversary bikes.
Definitely looks like the Vegas bike. Same backrest, same grips, no front turn signals, oddly-upturned brake light. What an ugly one, too! It'd be nice to buy a bike for $1,400 and sell it for $10,000.
Somethings just don't look quite right to me on that bike. No front turn signals. Rear backrest is not straight and appears to have aftermarket upholstery. In the Auction house photos it shows an aftermarket windscreen, that was available back then. Could be a SlipStreamer, or something of that type. But it is removed in the Fleabay add. Also, from what I remember from that era, the raised lettering on the gauge pod would have been white. I may be incorrect. There appears to be something not quite right with the odometer. Those numbers do not line up quite right to indicate the low miliage he claims. I am almost thinking that the speedo may have been tampered with. It looks like it is turning of 55555 miles on the odometer and 130 on the trip meter. The grips are definitely incorrect. The serial number given on Fleabay comes up as 04/1974 2476 R90/6 USA Production Code: 0273 After all is said and done, it is still just a 1975 R90/6. Nothing really special, as far as I am concerned. I always felt the /6 bikes were just interim ones that were waiting for the /7s to come out. I would rather either a /5 or /7. This one is only worth maybe $3000 if in excellent running condition. If it has been sitting for as long as he says and not ridden, maybe $1500.
