Pensacola area riders

Got word from FBM yesterday that the East Side of 87 has been closed off with serious cable. We have lost the Snake Trail, the Mystery Crater, and even our beloved "Back Trail" or Ridge Trail (the one we ride first from Brox Landing). We dont know if you can still ride down 211 and get over to the Helo area?

West side appears to be open still but that is less than 1/2 the area...

Nothing we did, or could have done, to prevent this. Gov decided they needed this area and took it without even asking us!!!

I am planning on riding Spec this weekend, Saturday morning so we can eat BBQ during the ride!

It was really great while we had it. Hopefully, it is the only such closing we will have there for years to come.... I won't be able to make it Saturday but am gearing up for the following weekend.

GOOD NEWS:

This is a temporary closure. Just got off the phone with Jackson Guard, and SF is using that area for temporary training, and the only new permanent red zone is in the E16 (Mystery Crater) area, it's going to be a landing field, and is only a 20-acre square of land. I got this info from Justin Johnson, you can reach him at 883-1152 to verify, super nice guy.

I feel a lot better now. East of 87 would be a lot of land to lose!:eek1

I just noticed that my range pass will be expiring on 9/30/12. If I'm not mistaken everyone's may be expiring at the same time? Just an FYI for everyone to double check their's and make sure your not out of compliance when (not if) you are checked.

yes all standard range passes are expire and of Sept. and you cannot get them renew until after that date. That may mean you will standing in line with the Bubba for a few weeks...

Tip go anytime you want and get the fishing permit which is 1 year from date of purchase...but cost 20 instead of 12...

Mine expires on the 23rd of Sept.

just depends on your timing and if you want to save 8 bucks...

Just make sure you get em....

BTW - good news on the temporary closure... they look pretty permanent to FBM...

Only forseen closure that might crop up is around choctaw field. West of 87, They are going to be using that area for more UAV training in the future. That is the latest intel I have from the spec op boys. Of course alot of this rides on the future FY budgets..
