· 2777 kms covered (including Geelong Melbourne return)

Paul’s DR650 (stock) averaged over 20km/lt during the entire trip

Good stuff. Well done in staying focussed on the dirt and tents while the weather was pear shaped.

*sigh* The more I read this forum, the more I want to sell my streetbike and get a dual purpose machine. All I need now is $$$ haha.

Looks like you guys had an awesome trip. :D

Fantastic report men. Been to Tassie but only in the car. It looks a lot like where I am in the Great Southern of WA, we have big trees here and not quite as many red-necks who want to cut them all down :clap:clap:clap:clap:clap

Great read.

All that praying to the rain god paid off. Clear sunny sky at Cradle Mountain! Someone told me it's usually clear in the morning and raining in the arvo, or the other way around.

The first question I have is.......how does Paul keep his shirts looking so neat? One day on the road and I look like a hobo :evil
I swear that briefcase is like a Mary Poppins bag, full of surprises.

That is a question often asked... ex army reserve seems to be the only answer. Still, I was always too embarrassed to look too deeply inside the briefcase for fear of what I might find.:rofl:rofl

The biggest issue for me was the sideways glances we often got in those rural pubs when we rocked in for a beer. I get the feeling that his neatly pressed shirts may have got them whispering about our possible sleeping arrangements :lol3:lol3

I've been lurking through the ADV site for a couple of years, never thought I'd need a dictionary here :rofl .............peristalsis
.........never heard of it before. Word of the Day!

What I can tell you is that once peristalsis was completed that hamburger had two other rather unpleasant side effects - halitosis and flatus :lol3 :lol3

Great RR - I hope to make it there someday!

One question though. I broke my Garmin on the last ride, so I'm wondering if you could point me in the direction of a good map... of Tassie?

Glad you enjoyed the RR. It's a fantasitc place to visit.. even when it rains!

I took a set of 4 maps which were each 1:250000. They are available on line here:

https://www.tasmap.tas.gov.au/do/category/250000TOPO

Most good map shops should be able to get them in.

Have a great trip :clap

I was recently alerted to the fact that many of the photo links in this report were either corrupted or missing. Sure enough when checking I found that the image host I had been using was very unstable so I have transferred all the photo links to a new host and reposted them all.

Should now be all good for anyone interested in checking out Tassie:clap
