I saw an accessories list somewhere. Can't find it now. But they had two top-boxes on offer, one of 50 Litres that they said would take two full-face helmets, and also a bigger one - 60 Litres. :eek1 Panniers were 35L. I hope we can assume that is each. Looks like space for a big tank bag as well. So, should have no problem squeezing in plenty of stuff for a trip.
Found the accessories page. It is here. Also tech specs, here. And for more pics, there is a gallery here. And an article at Cycle World. Looks like an interesting blend of old and new. There is ride-by-wire with three modes, LED running lights, traction control, elec cruise control, single throttle body (so no need to balance throttles), twin-plug heads, twin lambda probes, enormous oil cooler low behind front wheel where it is vulnerable to road junk, proper touring front mudguard (fender) with mudflap (I want the bike just for that. ) Engine hangs from the frame on three rubber-bushed rods. Base wet weight of the cruiser is 300kg (660lbs). About the same as a fully equipped Stelvio NTX, IIRC. The Touring version is quoted at 322kg wet, or 337 "fully equipped", whatever that means. A lot of metal there. i have a feeling this will be expensive.
I like most all of it with the exception of the driving lamps. A good to great looking cruiser in my eyes and which definitely reeks of Guzzi.
Very nice! Now THAT is a cruiser done right. Big ass brembo brakes on the front end, a properly powerful engine, and good style that doesn't defeat function. It'll be at least 20K though!
I like the new MG's. There is a new dealer in suburban Chicago (Downers Grove). He also sells Vespas and used European cars. I hope he makes it. I sat on the V7 racer with the chrome tank. Absolutely beautiful.
I won't get it if it's $20k. $15k or $16k, maybe. There's too much unknown about this bike. First year for the engine, MG has historically not had high volume sales in the U.S., poor dealer network, etc. For $20k I'll get a Road King. That's a sure thing, from a risk perspective.
Lobby, Victory >> HD. Vics can even corner well for 800#. Guzzi 1400 alt is 550 watts. IIRC, my SP1000 was 320 watts, might have been 280.
I really like Victory bikes. The Cross Country is a good one. But I scrape pegs on it, yet I don't on the Road King. Go figure...
I own 2 and I am 41. Guzzi has the toughest time getting over opinions like this. Too bad because the bikes/prices are great. Griso, stelvio prices have dropped recently. Very good bargains.
Thanks on the wattage. While I'd rather have 650 watts, if Toad can live with the 5.4 gallon tank, I can live with 550 watts The concessions we have to make for our hobbies. Sigh.
Seriously? Dude, that is one ugly bike! It's hard to believe this Is the same company that makes the Griso! Did they lose their design staff or something?
Eh... I like it. Also, I'd like to see one with a fairing. I think it'd look nice, and at the right price, I'd be very tempted.
So what is your idea of a pretty bike? The cal1400 "outlooks" every HD in existence IMO. The Griso isn't bad, but I never thought of it as beautiful. The only thing I don't like about the cal1400 is the gauge pod stuck up on top of the headlight. It looks like a poorly done aftermarket ad-on by some clueless owner.
