Does anyone know why the ZTechnik shield requires mirror extenders?

Early ones did.... then they shaped them like an alien head....and beside looking....uhhmmmmm....funny... they do not require extenders anymore. I took my old one off.

Hmm... Well that doesn't sound terribly inspiring... :D I thought it looked pretty decent in the pics on their web site but they don't show it from a lot of angles there.

The ones on the website now are the non-alienhead!
I like the looks of the new one better ... which there was a dealer that had one I could try....

It does say the mirror extenders are still required (small print under the pictures):

Interesting. So nothing on their web site is what they actually sell? :lol3

So does anyone have a picture or two of what the (new) shield looks like?

Sorry for the confusion ... the ones on the website are the newer non-alien design,
the do recommend the mirror extenders with the new designs.

Oooh, I see now. I wonder why it requires mirror extenders.

Here's mine. This is the newer MRA screen with the adjustable spoiler. Much better than the stock F650 or F800 screens but not perfect. It did get rid of a lot of the buffeting and noise. Very quiet up to about 60mph.

Apparently the highly advanced wind-tunnel tested screen wraps in such a way that it will hit the mirror stalks on a full-lock turn. ztechniks thought it was more important to keep the optimal design point of the screen,
rather than compromise it to work with mirrors in the stock position. ....

Can I apply for job in marketing now?

    Hey guys,

I came across the screen in the picture, but I can't find who makes it. Does anyone know what type/brand it is? It looks pretty smooth!

Edit: looks like it's the 333DT from Givi but they usually don't show it with the black frame.

After an hour of highway riding last weekend i decided to do something about the damn original screen.

Only the thought of paying about 150-300 € for a touring screen made me cry.

So i decided to try and mold my own screen. Here's the results.
Tried it out yesterday, worked like a charm. Such a big difference.
It costed me about 30 €.

So how did i do it?
Cut out the thing from a piece of plexi, used the original screen as reference.
Then used my brothers R1200GSA screen as reference for the new form.
Then, 3 guys and one piece of plexiglas in the sauna, molding, warming and drinking beer.

Happy with the results, it aint perfect, but it'll do for me!

Yep, that's definitely the Givi. Very nice but had a bad low frequency vibration behind it at secondary road speeds 75 to 90 KPH or 45 to 55 MPH. Here's some pics of mine before it got destroyed during a high side on the trip these pics were taken

Directly to the fairing. Drilled holes and used small bolts/nuts from the mount through the fairing.
