Does anybody actually buy or bid on a used trials bike without having rode it? Having only ridden used trials bikes (was all we could afford, over 3-4 yrs old) up until 1995 or so when I had a ride on a bike that was only one 1 year old I couldnt believe the difference in power. Older bikes had a flat power band, probably needed a rebuild, whereas the newer bikes had a more scrambler 2 stoke power band (but smoother than a mx bike obviously).

Id almost be tempted to offer the dude in denver 2K shipped to NY....but it could be beat to piss

That's nice! I really like that era of trials bikes. Before I got this '92 Gas Gas I was set to buy a 1990 Fantic 305. Then some things fell through on my end but then my friend gave me this Gas Gas on a try-it-now buy-it-later deal.

Absolutely gorgeous specimen, and probably worth restoration to a buyer that can appreciate.

I almost purchased this bike from the PO over the weekend. It was sold to the current owner 2-days ago and then showed up on CL yesterday at a higher price.

I didn't get a chance to physically inspect the bike, but I suspect the coolant in the oil is due to either a leaking waterpump seal as disclosed or worse case scenario corrosion in the magnesium cases which was common in the Beta Zero. The PO got the bike from the original owner, but gave up on keeping it since he couldn't remove the waterrpump impeller to replace the waterpump seal. I spoke to Mike Komer at the Tryals Shop; Scott Armstrong at Moto Connection; and the original importer: Ron Commo at RCS Racing to get information on the Beta Zero and source the parts:

    1. No problem getting the $11 waterpump seal. It's an odd design 10x18x5/8 with a raised edge. Common on many Italian makes.

    2. NOS Replacement cases in Aluminium may still be available from Beta in Italy: ~$480 The corrosion prone magnesium cases were replaced in the 1994 Beta Techno.

3, Rear brake caliper and master cylinder rebuild kit. The rear brakes weren't working.

    4. A hydraulic clutch conversion use to be available. Maybe the Magura Hymec conversion kit available from Keith at ADB would work.

    5. Early Beta aluminium frames but frame cracks.

    :eek1Wish it were closer!!!
    $1200+$645 (shipped to my door)=$1845.
If I didn't have two Gassers torn down at the moment, I'd be on this like white on rice!

If they were at all smart, they drained the coolant circuit.
And unless the case is cottage cheese in critical areas, you could use JB weld to fill&file back to shape (One of JBweld's few legitimate applications) For $2k it'd be the sharpest bike in most of our garages...I'd have to make it street legal so I could show it off.

Beta's kick on the wrong side and the cable clutch is sort of a bummer (Know 1st hand from my TR-34) add the distance and that's 3 strikes for me.
    and at $2k that's 1/4 of a used Monty 4rt....yup gonna pass
    but.........
    Paioli forks are nice!
Beta's frames were/are always ahead of the curve!
Why'd it have to be Purple and gold?...Oh the 90's...think I have a matching Fanny pack somewhere under my roller blades and beabie-baby collection (They'r investments you know) :rofl

The temptation in great...I'll dream about it until closing time.

I saw that Fantic the other day. How hard is it going to be to get parts for that bike?
Did they make their own motor or was it from some other mfg?

Yea, Dan buys up every nice trials bike in NorCal and tries to flip them for a profit.

The water pump seal is starting to leak on my Techno.

Tryals shop in NY has a lot of Fantic parts. I almost bought a 1990 305 and Mike told me he had so many Fantic parts he couldn't give me a list, I'd just have to let him know what I needed.

Seems cheap for an 06? I don't know too much about these bikes, so not sure if what he thinks he is selling is actually what he is selling :lol3

In 2002 and newer I though they all went to the newer motor? Seeing the older motor makes me think that bike is a 99 or 01.

    Example of a 2002

    His looks like this 2001
