Yes; if you get a wheel from an R100R or Mystic then there is more offset to the left. Same parts as the GS, just laced with a different offset. I use them interchangeably on my bikes (I don't use the 140 on my R100R).

So has anybody tried the Trail Wing TW 302 on the rear of a GS?
Rim size is 2.5" X 17 and this tire fits 2.15 - 2.75. However the width of the tire is 120mm instead of the 130mm called for.

If I missed it in this thread I apologize. It's a long thread and search wasn't helping.

    Thanks

I used lots of them. They don't last that long even when taking it easy I could only get 3000km out of them.

But it's the best snow tire ever made !!!! ( not that that was your question :lol3 )

    Thanks
There could be snow where I'm going. If I'm brave enough. :D
I was just concerned about fit mostly. Knobs like that never last long and they're cheaper than the TKC 80.

If you would like something like the TKC's try some Mitas tires. They are SO much better and way cheaper.
The E09 is a real decent tire for everything except deep mud.
The only problem might be the availability some times.

...don't know if I mentioned this before, but the new Anakee 3's are pretty sweet on my R100GS. Head scrapin' in the turns, and pretty darn good on dirt roads as well.
    Just mentionin'...

They're available. I've tried the TKCs on my GS1150 and they're fine. I read a review of the TW301/TW302 on a Suzuki DR 650 that was pretty favorable so I was interested in trying them. I usually run the Avon Gripster on my GS100 and they're fine most of the time but not so grippy on gravel and loose rocky stuff. I'm heading out to DV at the end of the month and thought I'd give the Trail Wings a go. They're about 1/2 the price of TKCs for me. The Mitas are in between. I do want to try those when I get the chance.

The TW301/TW302 combo was great in DV on my R100GS. Worked really well on that rocky gravel stuff that's out there. I was really pleased with how they worked on pavement also. I couldn't get them to seat when I first mounted them so I used tubes in side. Who knows how long they'll last? I don't expect to get many miles on them on pavement. But they're fairly cheap so I don't really mind.

The 4.00-18 TKC70 is in production now. We expect to see this tire in the US by about mid-May.
Due to low sales potential, there are no plans at this time to bring the 3.00-21 TKC70 into the US.
Instead we will offer the 90/90-21 TKC70, which will arrive in the US in the next few weeks.
We thank you for your interest in Continental motorcycle tires.

    Kind regards,

Has anyone fitted a Mita 07 120/90x18 on their R80G/S??? I'm needing a back tire and have run the K60 110-80x18 and TKC80 120-80x18 with no clearance problems, but have tried the Mefo Explorer 120-90x18 and it rubs the swing arm. I like the K60 but want to try the Mita to see if I get more miles out of it as the K60 is giving me about 5,000 to 5,500 miles.

If someone does have the Mita fitted what clearance do you have to the swing arm???

Didn't hit the swinging arm but it did hit the spring on the WP, but not by much.
If you still have the stock rim a 120 is actually too big for the rim, takes the wrong profile, and tends to wear flat.
I currently have Metzler Enduro 3 Safaris fitted, 110 rear, and they feel better all round then the 07s.
Only have 3000 wet and wintery km on them and they are hardly worn, but I don't expect them to last as long as the 07s , which lasted twice as long as anything else I have tried, but for me the few extra dollars are worth it for a better tire.

I've had Sahara's but they are to expensive and wear like hot butter. I'd like to try the Mita E07, and see if they last longer or grip better than the K60...and yes I have the stock rim. There may not be a good 50/50 tire that gets better mileage over the K60 but I want to see if the Mita will do better. Even though the Heidenua is hard to beat for the money. IDK, maybe the E07 will give a lot more miles for the extra $30....

Problem for me with long lasting tires is that they tend to wear out of shape long before they wear out, and when they do so I just scrap them anyway - i ride for pleasure and for me it isn't much fun riding on crap tires - the day I cant afford the best tires is the day I give up riding a bike!

The Mitas sizes vary a lot. I have some R65G/S's using the 120/80-18 E07 (there is no 120/90-18 E07)
Almost all of them have plenty of room between the swingarm and tyre.
On some stock G/S wheels I could even use a130/80-18 E07 but they are a tight fit.
The 130-80 e09 is a lot smaller and fits easily. But the 09 makes the bike a bit less comfortable for road use.

Is there a thread about measured tire sizes over here somewhere? Been thinking about one some time now.

Like Beemerboff said a tyre that can do 20k but doesn't make you enjoy the ride after 10k sucks.
I have piles of those half worn tyres and don't think I will ever wear them out this lifetime :becca
Although the front E07 doesn't wear as nice as a K60 I would still take the Mitas.

Pruster- would you be able to get a measurement of the width of the Mita 07 120/90x18 while it's installed on the G/S???

I've gotten 13,000 miles from the front and 5,500 to 6,000 miles from the rear K60's.

what's your take of the Mita E07 vs the K60..id be interested in your opinion. Miles, grippiness in various terrain, dirt mud gravel..etc?
