I've been thru that tunnel -----------what I remember so clearly about it is the electric train that ran on it. See the wires for the train ???? I found that really interesting and wondered why it was electric powered. I'm thinkin' it was in Northeast Utah---but have forgotten exactly where.
Missouri and Northern Arkansas RR Tunnel near Eureka Springs, Ar. The next picture is not mine but shows the inside of the tunnel. There is a Geocache at the mouth of the Eureka Springs side of the tunnel.
My cousin, the Chicken, told me that every tunnel in the area framed Mt. Rushmore - would have missed this without his advice.
There's an electrified railroad line in Northwest Colorado/Eastern Utah that's not connected to the national rail system. It runs from a coal mine in Colorado to a power plant in Utah. I think the line is something about 30 miles long. More photos from the day's ride: www.JimWilliamson.net/motorcycle/2007-09-15-dinosaur-nm/09-16/
Pic taken on the Yellowstone Branch Line Trail in Idaho Aug 2011...Rail Trail started out a blast but got old 10 whooped out dusty miles later!
Couple of friends and I rode out to the old Wright's Station tunnel. This is in the Santa Cruz mountains between Los Gatos and Santa Cruz.
Here is a shot looking in to the 2.3 kilometer long tunnel leading to Real de Catorce, Mexico. The tunnel is easy. Trying to navigate the insanely steep and narrow cobblestone streets in town is the fun part. I highly recommend a visit. Only $12 buck a night and the Real de Alamos hotel.
Love your Motto, Veil Spass Vato!! bahahahah Ja Barvaria ist Geil! Wusnsche mir ich habe Ein Photo from the tunnel between Bamberg und Schweinfurt.
This tunnel is now fenced off, still there as of August 2019, but you're lucky to have gotten that shot with bikes in there. I noticed the north gate was open but couldn't find a trail down to it. It is an interesting little bit of history and only a couple hundred yards off the highway. Easy to find since it is on "Tunnel Road".
