thanks slog. inte had a russian camera - lomos? with regular film?, and took pics. i wonder where he's going to post them. meantime, i'll send him a link to this rr.

    you gotta love this place
    [IMG]

near the edge of the dry lake bed we stopped at jose's shack. he has food and fuel
    [IMG]

though i don't need it, good i asked him if he sells gas. later i will need it (long story)

there were few vehicles and people there too
    [IMG]

after the break, we rode towards san felipe.

this is the easy section. it wasn't as tough as last year and we made it far enough that what's left is the easy stuff
    [IMG]

while waiting for the rest, i was told that eric broke one of his legs and that we have to turn around so we can get him safely back to the highway. the sandy section is the shorter route, but may not be suitable for an injured rider.

knowing i don't have the fuel range to go around and take the pavement to san felipe, i stopped at the shack to top off my tank. others didn't.

after 20 miles or so, larry ran out of gas and now dipping into mine....hahaha
    [IMG]

45 minutes later, we made it to san felipe...wohooo
    [IMG]

lunch at 3pm was super delicious

keep note of this sign; never take for granted baja has gas everywhere
    [IMG]

the hills robbing as the much needed daylight
    [IMG]

the long dirt highway to gonzaga bay is almost gone now, only 5 miles of dirt is left....8(

made to alphonsinas in the dark just minutes before the big group of adventure riders showed up. yes, we took the preferred parking.

    we are eating again....huh
    [IMG]

heading south to coco's corner. some high speed pursuit
    [IMG]

once the gap gets too big, we regroup

after coco's corner, it was a looooong straight shot to mex 1
    [IMG]

where the dirt highway meets mex 1, they sell gas in barrels
    [IMG]

heading north to make towards el rosario (planned stop for lunch)

    another road side gas vendor

thanks byways. i'm not an articulate writer but i can post a lot of pics to compensate.....:lol3

    damn...that's you tony....i have 2 of your books...:bow

    back to the RR.

after a good lunch at mama espinosa, larry took us east of town for more dirt

the water here is not good, it will eat up your aluminum sprocket (long story)...hahaha
    [IMG]

we hit sand and more sand later
    [IMG]

i crashed here too and pinned my left leg; thanks to todd and jnyrav for getting me out
    [IMG]

    eventually it became a swamp
    [IMG]

of course it's not a ride without a sleeping pig
    [IMG]

todd was back on 2 again
    [IMG]

maria by now is an expert in water crossing
    [IMG]

larry scouted the road ahead which was rutted and loose. for the safety of the group and lack of enough daylight, we decided to take the pavement
    [IMG]

on our way to san quentin, larry ran on some mechanical problem. todd summoned us to proceed and pick our reservatios, while he and jnyrav will stay with larry and get him to the hotel

at our hotel, the japanese ena riders pulled it after we arrived.

it's obvious, they brought their discipline with them
    [IMG]

finally, all are accounted and having fun over dinner

we pretty much stayed as close as possible to the shoreline
    [IMG]

it rained a few days before, thus good traction and no dust; pics turn out better too, just like watering the driveway when posting pics of cars for sale.
