The Ultimate Adventure Accesory

After crossing the Sahara these two guys turn their bikes (KTM 640
Adventure and Yamaha TT600) to paddlewheel powered rafts made
of empty oil barrels. Then sail towards Timbuktu (930 miles away) on
the Niger River until the KTM's top end fails weeks later.

You can read more about their story on the latest issue of UK Bike Magazine (November 05). I had never dreamed of this kind of bike adventure before reading this…

The bar for "Wild and Crazy Guys" has just been raised considerably.

Unfortunately the Bike article doesn’t give exact numbers. Anyhow it
says that on the first night they did 33 miles. The whole journey from
Koulikoro to Mopti took ten weeks. So the average speed was only
about 4 miles per day. It seems that they were stuck on sandbanks
or making repairs more than once on the way.
