Wellsboro PA Lodging???

Can someone recommend a decent, inexpensive place to stay in the Wellsboro area? Not too concerned about too many extras, just clean and comfy.

Thanks,

Techieguy.

Coach Stop Inn

Techieguy,

We have had a couple of group rides using The Coach Stop Inn as a base. Decent rates and centrally located to some great riding and sites. It is located on RT 6 a couple of miles west of Wellsboro center. Good restaurant on-site. Good luck.

hi wayne!
I'll second that. Stayed for 2 days last month. The rooms were reasonably priced, the folks that worked there were extremely nice but the food was not so good. They do have a bar though!

Thumb PA State Park Cabins

I haven't stayed at any of these yet, but I intend to. Check out the available Cabins at various State parks in PA. They appear to be bargains, and come in various levels of comfort from Rustic cabins to Modern cabins.

I stayed at the Wellsboro Inn several years ago. My wife put it best when she said "Quaint is a polite way to say old" . The room was slightly larger than a phone booth (if you rember those), the heat did't work and there was no coffee maker in the room! But it was 'quaint'.

We stayed in the Comfort Inn in Mansfield this past June and the room was perfec! Clean, modern, coffee maker and a lounge! Also, there were about thirty other bikes in the lot when we got there.

Just get a Reservation whatever you do.

Rode through this past weekend. Plenty of Motels, but it's peak Foliage season so there were NO VACANCIES. And we checked em all out. Ended up buying a bag and tent and camped at Hills Creek State Park for $12/night. Hills Creek is about 5 miles out of town. The Park also has Modern and Rustic Cabins you can reserve for a minimum 2-night stay for something like $35/night, but don't quote me. Specifics can be found at:

I ended up getting the last room at the Colton Point Motel. Clean and cheap. The offer breakfast on weekends and are bike friendly.

Personally, I like the old Penn Wells Hotel, and have stayed there the three times I have been in the area, the last being this past spring.

Everything is right there within walking distance.

I should have added that others in my group have stayed at the Penn Wells Motel (just down Main from the Hotel) and the Sherwood, and they were pleased with their accomodations as well.

Regardless of where you stay, you gotta go down to Slate Run and get a sammich!!

I usually grab mine, head up to Hyner View to perch on the overlook.

Just one of life's little pleasures.
