Sherando Lake Campground?

Thinking of staying here a few days next summer. Anyone been there? What can you tell me?

Excellent campground, been there to attend an annual BMW rally a few times. Nice lake for swimming when it's hot.

A lot of good roads nearby - paved or dirt.

One of my favorites, nice sights are large, flat with pea gravel I think and the lake is very picturesque and you can zap up to the Blue Ridge parkway in just a few minutes. Close to wintergreen too.

nice place. close to the BRP, good roads in the area. C-ville is over the hill for some Jefferson history easy to get to from either I-64 or I-81. day tripping into WV is easy, as are day trips to Richmond or DC.

As I posted on ST-N, not a bad place. For some local roads, check out the BRP South to 56W to 606S to 252S to 39W and follow 678N to McDowell and East on 250 for a nice loop. Lots and lots of tasty roads around.

Do beware of the pea gravel on rt 56 though.
