SE Arizona Ride May 18-20

Any locals interested? It's 2 weeks away.

Basics- 3-day, multisurface ride through Coronado National Forest. Minimum of 500 miles round-trip from Mesa, AZ (calculate your own from home). Stack on additional explorative dirt miles as you wish (primary route is not difficult and will not fill the hours). Lots of 4x4 roads to ride. Camp 2 nights (Parker Canyon Lake and Pena Blanca Lake). Self-supported trip (carry all your own crap). Street legals only. Small gas tanks ok. Big bikes ok. Princesses, not ok. Water and gas will be available, as there is a bit of civilization along the route.

We'll meet in Sierra Vista in the am on Friday May 18th, ride West for 3 days, and will depart for home in the pm on Sunday May 20th.

PM me for full details and maps.

ride the $*#(@) thing, and you'll quickly learn that the stain marks in your brooks were firstly from fear and then from ecstacy.

I guess it's just somebody who'd be an all-around drag to ride with.
examples- somebody that can't change his/her own tire, pick up his/her own bike, or whines about camping

Are you afraid you might be a princess, cornbread?

No stud.. I just don't like to ride with anal-retentive guys that overplan every little thing down to the last detail and second.

I take a slower and looser pace to a ride myself. Some folks like to make it a Hell-or-Victory death slog, You will find a few here that dig that.

Have fun and enjoy your ride.

Chip

Chipper- Yes I like to plan. Yes I can be anal-retentive, as you say. This particular ride requires planning. Coronado NF is a maze of 4x4 roads, many leading to (or dead-ending at) small homesteads with locked gates. Additionally, there is basically one route from the East side to the West side. Illegal immigrant migration and/or smuggling activity is a distinct possibility, as are black bears and mountain lions. This isn't a backyard trip where we can bumblefuck our way through successfully, therefore I took the liberty of planning well (I hope). That in no way reduces the fun of this ride in my opinion, and it sort of adds to my feelings of accomplishment. The basic route is no death slog, only the extracurricular trails one might take. This is not to say that we won't get lost.

I too like to point the KLR in a direction and see where it goes, but with little water, a bit of danger, and no pavement for many miles, planning goes a long way.

Peace-
