No More BMW Dealer in GJ

I was told that Allsports Honda BMW will no longer be selling BMW. I wonder if they will still work on the bikes they sold.... Next nearest BMW dealer: Denver.

I have been hearing that rumour on and off for the last 10 years.
I hope not.
I have to call for parts soon anyway, so I'll ask whats up and report back here.

Harry Hill at Basin Motor Works in Durango can get parts and does BMW service and repair to airheads and oilheads.

Harry does good work and is dedicated to good service. His specialty is airheads but he works on all BMWs.

Dammit, that sucks. They've actually had a surprising number of the parts I've needed for my R100/7, and they're just down the road from where I work.

I seriously doubt the Harley dealer will bother building an inventory of parts for older bikes.

I've walked in and out of that shop for some time and never even been greeted... I restore and ride airheads and Hondas here in Junk-town and have not bought a single part from them... And I am a HUGE.. "buy local" guy. They should not be a dealer with that kind of crap customer service.

My $.02

I hear you there, I can't remember a single time I was greeted by one of the salesmen. Pretty sure I wouldn't buy a bike there, and I never used the mechanics, but the guys at the parts counter were usually pretty cool.

BMW dealers almost all screw ya alike

I got hosed by the BMW shop in Missoula when I bought my GSA last spring. He was 1200 higher than the Florida shop, and knew I could not go get the bike and ride it back at the time. The Idaho shop 100 miles away knew I was looking for a deal so they offered me 200 less than the MT shop price to pay for my gas ;-) Just bend over and smile if you want to ride a newer BMW. When I got mine the ex BMW riders now on Hondas said the nicest part of owning a BMW was meeting all the nice people in the service waiting room. Come to think of it, I have met some nice people waiting for my bike in the shop. Still the nicest part is those days when it does run as advertised and I'm hoping now, all the initial warts are gone at 12K miles.

when

When is this move going to happen? Gonna be there this weekend.

The Harley shop in Fairbanks recently took over the Trail's End BMW franchise. Thy were nice there (and had a giant BBQ going) but when I went in, they only had one German bike in the show room. They did have lots of shiny stuff and leather goods. Granted, they were still spooling up...

If you pay over MSRP or you pay the bogus "assembly, prep or freight" charges you're being ripped off. FWIW, not all BMW dealers are alike.
