KTM 17 tooth guide with 16 tooth sprocket
May seem a little dumb, but does anyone see problems running a 16 tooth sprocket with a 17 tooth chain guide on a LC4E? I noticed the one that was on it was for a 15/16 tooth. If I'm running a 16 tooth front, wouldn't that kind of be the same thing? I know it's only 3 bolts, but I'm really lazy.
Thanks |

one size fits all
I could be wrong, because i've been wrong so many times in the past, but I don't think they make different sized guides for the front or rear, I know when you buy an enduro eng. brand they aren't sized, it's just to help spit out the chain and save the case and how often do you break a chain anyway, it's never happened to me in my 40 years of riding.

If you're talking about the steel case saver around the countershaft sprocket, the original piece works for 16 teeth and less. The "duke" part (58730047100) has more clearance to allow the 17 tooth sprocket. I run the duke part for all three (15-16-17)...

Not to hijack.. But you guys can fit a 17T?
I tryed to put a 17 on my 02 640 adventure... and it hits the swing arm... Am I missing somthing here? By all means. you should be fine running the 17T "case saver" all it does is act as a guid for the chain incase it breaks.. instead of wadding up in there and busting the engine cases... (I have a few old triumph cases that met this fate laying around) |

Some sprockets have shorter teeth which make the clearance not an isssue,

I just put a 17T, as well as a 17T chain guide (case saver) since my original is a 15/16, on my 01 LC4E. The 17T sprocket just barely clears my swingarm. Like .01mm, seriously, but no issues. It's KTM sprocket. I'm going back to 16T for dirt. |

Just to keep the sign-in thread tidier...
39 is the standard part on Enduros & Adventures, 40 is standard on the Duke.
