Angeles Forest (L.A.) Full Moon Ride

To those who whine about riding on a hot day is too uncomfy, now we found relief for you crybabies!

I could not recall if any here has done a Full Moon Ride in Angeles Forest, if so we need your advice.

This coming July 18, 2008 we have the opportunity to ride under the full moon. This is a Friday night dinner and ride !

http://www.almanac.com/astronomy/moon/full/index.php

We still have to decide where to have dinner...maybe Newcomb's? We need to map out the trails too. Tell the wife that you won't be home till 2am!

We have enough fugly riders in the group to scare the hell out of us, it won't matter if more wants to join. If you plan to join us, I suggest you do our pre-run so you get a good idea what the terrain looks like in the daytime.

Now is the chance to use your Baja headlights, helmet lights, HIDs, fog lamps, maglights, LED headlamps, night visions and scopes, and reflective vest. Bring a lot of glow sticks and we'll have a light parade that can only be surpassed by the West Hollywood Halloween Gay Parade .

No strobe lights, combustibles, flames, and spooky mask please!

Ride Report.......mini

so i got in from the ride around 10:30 and the girl was happy and my friend just arrived from outta town so all is good!

let me just say the moon was so effing bright, but when you'd be in the shadow of the hills, it was PITCH BLACK. oh yeah, and crazy windy. had to be up to 50-60 mph gusts.

here's some teaser pics then off to bed.

gotta work tomorrow.

BTW any of you L.A. weekend riders watch out for rocks and debris on the Angeles Crest and Angeles Forest Hwys. with all the wind, it was scattered all over the road.

here's Sito looking like a Battlestar Gallactica(70's version).

Trid is number one

My delicious veggie burger at Newcombs

more to follow...........

Done it

Several times actually with Rider914 and a few others.

http://www.advrider.com/forums/showp...3&postcount=74

By starting out at Waterman you can be riding west the entire way back and end up around the cahon pass by sunride depending on what time you start etc. The nice part of that is at the end of the ride you are realtivly close to home for many people you can also grab grub pretty early at the summit inn on the top of the pass. Depends on what time you want to start and end your ride.

The only real problem will be lack of vision due to the dust which will be really bad this time of year.
