Can a bmw key be copied?
If I go with another GSA, I'd like to just switch over the hardcases instead of the $$ of new...except they're keyed to the ignition key. Can the key be copied or would I have to get another kit to redo the bags with another key?
Thanks for any info. |

1150 or 1200?
1150 can be copied, I have had it copied several times at the local locksmiths, $2 each.

keys for all bikes with BMW immobilisers (R1200, K1200, F650/800) are only available from dealers. There is a maximum of 10 keys available for each bike during its lifetime. If you loose all 10 keys, you need a new ECU.
To put this in perspective, Honda's HISS equipped BIKES may only have 3 keys available before requiring a replacement ECU? Oilheads & G-series keys can be recut cheaply by a locksmith.

Checked with the dealer today. If I switch bikes they can put new locks on all the bags keyed to my new bike. Parts guy keeps them in stock as they do it alot I guess.
