Let's talk Top Cases: Givi vs. Shad

I'm looking at the Givi V46 and the Shad SH46. Does anyone have experience with either? Which is better. The Shad is about $35 cheaper and comes with the mounting bracket. The bracket for the Givi is another 60 bux.

Thanks

Ben

I love my GIVI, I also think it's way overpriced.

I actually have experience with both, those exact models.

I had a Shad mounted on my bandit. Now have the givi.

The Shad was a bit roomier but less sturdy. Just feeling the plastics, locks and brackets, clearly the givi is stronger.

I use these to carry my laptop with its bag. The Shad plate broke after less than a year. bought the givi after that. Seems good so far!

Cheers

Easy...Givi

I went back and fourth between Vario Top & Givi. Finally chose Givi...glad I did. It's very sturdy - has already survived dropping the bike onto my car - Givi first, and neither the box nor mount broke.

What is an extra $9.50 per year, providing you only use it for 10 years?

I used to regret making purchases for a few dollar savings. I've learned since. Buy the one you really want.

shad isn't cheaper because its cheaper quality, givi is just overpriced. The SH50 looks really really nice.I've played with both, the shad does not seem flimsier than the givi.

Looking at the bottom of a few shad cases, it looks very similar to the givi mount, I wouldn't be surprised if they fit one another.

Aren't they made by the same company? I know GiVi has a cheaper product line; I just can't remember the name with certainty.

Are you thinking of Kappa? I have a 52L that's been fine, although next Spring I'll probably replace it with a Micatech.
