Chasing Treasure Hunters

Merry Christmas to you all. It is -5 outside now and I am dead-bored.
I decided to post here my recent pics.
This report here is about Proto-Thracians. This time I was after their graves, but I am not a hunter, I swear.
In fact I was determined to get the whole of those Emperor Anastasios Walls, lying 56 km from South to East and dividing the Marmara Region-Thrace into two. But I failed.Maybe next time we ll see that, but it is chilling these days.
On the road. This plane tree is 810 years old.(The one with a flag on it)

One must be really rich to spend so much on these walls.

On the way, there is a restaurant which serves really delicious trouts.
From inside:

This stove can heat up the whole world.

The structure of its pub.

No K9s needed.dare if you attack them.

I ate up. SR1; you missed so many things. You didn't keep your promise though you were in Istanbul phoning me. Don't find another lie for the next time,K?
Well,I started my trek, about 2km up the hills.

Roman waterways which used to carry water to Istanbul.(Appr.280 km)Still being partly used by locals.

Air chambers of the waterway

The spring.Still under control.

I went up and up.This path was once the road to a Proto-Thracian village and grave.

Path getting worse.

Here I am.

The Graves.Treasure hunters have f....'em all.

The one with a tombstone, open.

Interior.Empty beer cans and electric wires for generators.

The one with a skull.I tried to bury it but failed.Soil to hard to work with and I was alone in the middle of nowhere.

Something, watching me

Another Roman remnant

St Hagia Sophia church.Restorated as a mosque.

It was getting dark and misty.

In March 2007, when I was a newbie here, I shared my visit to Hagia Nichola Monastery (5th century) with you.(photobucket ate them all very quickly and they didn't last long here)
Recently, I made another visit and below, you'll see a selection of pics.

The river meets the Black Sea

Cool pic,isn't it?

Deserted village. Here, once Emperor Neron used to be a governor.

How happy they were that day! They offered me some spirit. But how could one stand on a bike with such a spirit....

I went higher and higher.

That's all I can give you for now. I hope you have liked it.
Ride safe and be happy you all.
